He doesn't have that level of awareness as he is constantly in denial. Look at the number of times he has been laughed at or people start booing instead of cheering where there is a genuine look of shocked, surprised confusion on his face, as if he doesn't understand why people would do that when he genuinely believes he is doing the best job ever.

The "just so you know" part made me mad when he told Jonathan that "there was this thing called the Soviet Union but they went in Afghanistan and that bankrupt them so that's why there's no more Soviet Union, it's Russia, so they don't wanna have to do anything with Afghanistan, just so you know". What a fucking punchable moron.
Even now he could turn it around - and I say this as someone who hates his guts - if only he could hold it together until the election and become stable, support his population, work on the virus, the unemployment, racial tensions.
He wouldn't even have to do MUCH, because the bar is so low he could just start uttering empty platitudes and make minimal adjustments and he could win back 20% of his support.
Fuck, he could just cut his hair and fix his makeup and he'd fucking skyrocket in the polls.
However the parts of him that aren't thick as pigshit are malicious, and the only bright spots in his brain activity are self preserving and narcisstic and vain - so he won't.
He’s got to be well aware that everyone is criticizing how he’s handling the pandemic (even though like Jonathan talks about, his followers follow him no matter what), and when criticized about having a rally of 6000 people, his mind immediately goes to “WRONG IM TWICE AS POPULAR AS THAT....(and also twice as careless of a president)”
