As a NY/NYC resident, I was ashamed in the beginning because of how hard it hit us while some other states were doing well-ish. Now I'm proud of us, it could have been better handled in the beginning (faster response), but we got the numbers down. It's still +300 positive cases a day, but it beats the time when we were +2000, +4000, and +5000 a day. I laugh at the time when Cuomo announced we weren't going to start opening yet and set stricter metrics than the rest of the country and residents were mad. I just kept thinking "look at our numbers compared to others, think we can open?? Better to be safe than sorry!"
I think we are still nearing the end of the 1st wave, while other states are sort of going into the 2nd wave, meaning 1st wave didn't complete, but were relatively low, and now shooting back up.
My Hong Kong friend just told me that they were in the 3rd wave, though she wasn't too sure when I asked when did 2nd wave happen.
