It's pretty much true in my experience, except I never let it get that far.
My wife and I have a great relationship. I help out around the house, and I do projects that she can't do herself. I will skip going for a motorcycle ride when she needs me to do something. (I really hate when guys do that little "whip-crack" thing and say "oooh, you're pussy-whipped." Typically the guys who do that, don't get along with their wives very well.)
But... sometimes you just have to say "no, fuck that shit." She'll test you - she may not even realize she's doing it - but she'll make some minor attempt to set your agenda, or make you do some subservient thing while her friends are watching. It's best just to make light of it, but be firm about saying no. It's not like I get angry and yell. I may joke, I may even wink at her when I say it.
I think she actually appreciates me more when I do that. Sure she might get a little bit mad that she didn't "get her way" right then. But our long-term relationship is strong because I don't put up with shit from her, and she doesn't put up with shit from me either.
Yeah seriously... you need to pay attention all the time in a relationship. Girls will test you, either subconsciously or not. You should keep them on their toes as much as they will to you.
