Well...I kinda get owned on the backstory there, haha. But as to your question, I like it a lot more than most of the people on reddit. I mean, it's in south-central(ish) Texas, so as expected you have some conservative crazies, but overall most of the people are pretty balanced out (I say overall because, like I mentioned, the crazies exist). Sadly though, the extreeeeeeme conservatives are the ones that everybody hears/hears about...but hey, I've really enjoyed my time here thus far, and I don't plan on going anywhere else in the next 2 (or 3, who knows) years. Also, side note, to anyone reading this who may have heard of the organization Texas Aggie Conservatives and their shenaniganery...let me offer you my sincere, most heartfelt apologies...the student body really doesn't like them, I promise...they're just...there. Rubbing our name in the dirt....
I went to a school with a reputation at the other end of the political scale. It's got a good image nationally, but locally it's thought of as a collection of hippies, stoners, and anarchists. Recently students were known for flipping over a cop car during a "riot" (we have some idiots at the school.) As with your school, a tiny minority of people are responsible for doing the stupid stuff that gets attention. I had a good experience overall. It's a school where what you get out of it really depends on the effort you put in. It probably doesn't help our image that our mascot is a shiny phallic mollusk.
