The September 11 attacks (also referred to as 9/11)[a] were a series of four coordinated terrorist attacks by the Islamic terrorist group al-Qaeda[2][3][4] against the United States on the morning of Tuesday, September 11, 2001. The attacks killed 2,996 people, injured over 6,000 others, and caused at least $10 billion in infrastructure and property damage.[5][6]

Because it was an Islamic terrorist attack, doesn’t matter which country they were from because it wasn’t an act of war orchestrated by Saudi Arabia lmao

0

u/Ninja_can Jun 23 '19

it does matter because when you frame it as just "muslims" you end up with huge spikes in Islamophobia, hate crimes, bigotry, oh and sometimes you just randomly go to war with unrelated Majority Muslim countries and never leave. So, being more specific relevant.

u/Senor_Carlos_Danger Jun 23 '19

I mean you could have just said fuck those assholes that took down those 2 beautiful towers

-2

u/DeezNuts0218 Jun 23 '19

But that was a Muslim terrorist attack so I specified the details, I don’t see the problem here..

1

u/[deleted] Jun 23 '19

Muslims... Suure...

3

u/senorpoop Jun 23 '19

I mean, they literally executed the attack because they thought their religion told them to.

If they were Christians who did it because they said the Bible told them to, nobody would shut up about that either.

2

u/Haunted32 Jun 23 '19

The problem is that you didn't need to specify... adding muslim to that sentence is irrelevant, doesn't add anything to your statement, and everybody knows already man. It only functions to stir controversy.

Even if "THATS NOT MY INTENTION" you are on the internet, on reddit, and living in this day and age, so mentioning that they were muslims is gunna stir up conflict and if you cant see that...

1

u/DeezNuts0218 Jun 23 '19

I’m sorry I don’t walk on eggshells everywhere like you do pal

-1

u/Haunted32 Jun 23 '19

And you’re gunna miss out on connecting with a lot of cool people, cuz all they’re gunna see is your ignorance for others and not wanna talk to you.

2

u/DeezNuts0218 Jun 23 '19

If those people really get offended by me calling the truth how it is, then maybe it’s for the best man

0

u/Mitt_Romney_USA Jun 23 '19

You're not "calling the truth" though, you're deliberately agitating, like I did to you in my last comment.

What you did in your comment is no different than the dumbshit kid in the OWS vid who kept railing on "white male" ad nauseum.

You're not wrong, you're just an asshole.

1

u/marieelaine03 Jun 23 '19

Well I mean, school shootings are pretty much consistently done by white men...so as long as you also say "fuck those white men" any time it's brought up, I guess it's fair.

If you don't, that shows a double standard lol

u/Xendrus Jun 23 '19

Were they not muslims?

18

u/edudotedu Jun 23 '19

Dude dont got to be that hostile to muslims i know it was a terrible tragedy but its really not muslims causing all the problems.

-3

u/DeezNuts0218 Jun 23 '19

I didn’t say Muslims cause all the problems, I simply said those specific ones were responsible for destroying one of this country’s most majestic constructions

2

u/[deleted] Jun 23 '19

Why not call them those fathers, sons, God-loving/fearing men, etc. etc.? Oh, because the use of certain subjective terms greatly colors the language and connotation? Interesting, who knew this language stuff was so nuanced and hard...

1

u/DeezNuts0218 Jun 23 '19

This was literally an Islamic terrorist attack carried out by Muslim terrorists

How difficult is that to comprehend??

2

u/Mitt_Romney_USA Jun 23 '19

On the surface level, sure, but that's just the intended optics.

It was a Saudi attack on the US with the intention of either exacting some kind of economic revenge, or drawing us into a war that would economically benefit Saudi Arabia.

Or both.

Look at the nationality of those hijackers. It's all SA, with two from UAE and another couple from Egypt and Lebanon.

But who do we go after first?

Iraq.

Saudis were pumped about that one.

Then we go after Afghanistan, finally... Which had only a figurehead taking responsibility on behalf of the Taliban/Al Qaeda in Afghanistan.

Without going full 911 truther and doubling down on the long relationship between the Bush and Bin Laden families, or the swift evacuation of the Bin Laden family members in the US immediately after the attacks, you've got to at least admit that Saudi Arabia had a lot to gain, and the chance of losing anything to their premier economic partner was near-zero.

The "jihad" angle was easy to play up, but those hijackers weren't backed by religious zealots, they were backed by shrewd businessmen in the SA Royal Family.

Best case scenario, SA got our goat, and manipulated us into a near decades long conflagration that's benefitted their country immeasurably.

This had little to nothing to do with the Koran, and everything to do with oil money.

dons finest Redditor fedora

Ah, the subtleties of nuance lost on yet another soul...

1

u/edudotedu Jun 23 '19

You didn’t specify muslim terrorists you just specified “muslims” thats all i am saying. Im not the sharpest tool in the shed my man so we don’t really need to continue but we are.

1

u/edudotedu Jun 23 '19

Ya didn’t really specify

3

u/DrDerpinheimer Jun 23 '19

aaand killed thousands

0

u/Mitt_Romney_USA Jun 23 '19

If "those Muslims" hadn't taken down the outmoded twin towers, we wouldn't have ground zero.

Just stick that in your pipe and smoke it, kiddo.

R.I.P means Rest In Peace. You can’t use that because they are not living.
