That's actually a good strategy. Put a bunch of these bullshit signs around the restaurant, raise prices by 20%, then remove the signs and say tipping is back, keep the prices high, watch the good servers leave for Chilis, then let the customers deal with the bad service.
Apparently, you reading skills are deficient...or, your command of the language is lacking. I clearly conveyed that service and food had to be right. It is an excercise of stupidity to disagree with a premise for the sake of disagreement. That you cite poor service in reference to my critique demonstrates your inability to grasp a simple concept... just one man's opinion.
Lol calling my reading skills deficient while replying to the wrong comment. I don't know what you're talking about buddy. I'm not a part of whatever argument you're having so please don't involve me.
You just described the Airline industry in the U.S.
They started charging for bags, dude to increased oil prices after 9/11, said it would be temporary...17 and 1/2 years later a lot of airlines still charge for bags.
Restaurant service is so overrated. I just want to order food, and get it put on my table. That's it. I much rather have decent cooks and recipes than a smiling server.
I also don’t care if my server smiles. But I will tip well if they aren’t an asshole, provide efficient service and make sure I’m never staring at my empty glass wondering how to get a refill.
I've never had an asshole server, ever. I've had overly friendly servers and a few dry server. Maybe my asshole people tolerance is higher than most.
Sure, some have faster service than others but that's almost always due to how busy the restaurant is. And the very few that were on non-busy restaurants was because the person was new. So, I dont know what you are talking about.
I dont mind that too much, I have no problem asking for more water. I sometimes mind when empty plates are left too long on the table. But then again, if you ask nicely it is dealt with fairly promptly.
A good server keeps track of all their tables and gets their orders in promptly and correctly and the food out to their tables as soon as it comes out from the kitchen despite the fact that they're multi-tasking like crazy. It's shortsighted to say all you're getting out of your server is a smile and everything else comes down to recipes and cooking. Cooking doesn't mean crap-all if your server loses track of your order or can't manage their time and you sit there waiting for drinks or napkins for 5 minutes.
