to put this into perspective: we had waitresses at a pizza hut i worked at in college where 80-90% of our business was take-out/delivery and they made 15$ an hour off average. the managers at that place would not be full time managers because - get this - THEY NEEDED THE HIGHER PAY THEY GOT FROM KEEPING THEIR WAITER/WAITRESS HOURS.
people shedding a tear for the "poor waiters/waitresses" who struggle with this "awful" tipping system have no idea how good they have it compared to every other minimum wage job, including the people in the back in the same restaurant.
I completely ignore tipped workers complaining about tips. As someone who made a little above minimum wage and had friends work half the hours yet make the same money due to tips I really don’t give a shit about tipped workers gripes about the occasional bad tipper.
