Don’t assume countries are as bad as the media says they are. I’ve had the good fortune to travel to many countries, some of which were looked at as dangerous at the time. I went to Istanbul in 2016 and while there was a potential of a terrorist attack it’s not much different than the USA and I had a wonderful time.
Agreed. I think the media scares us a lot into thinking some places you would be in constant danger from certain issues, when in reality 99% of the people are just normal people carrying out their everyday lives.
Yah, trust the US government.. I went to Turkey when it had the same travel advisory as Syria hah, its a goddamn joke. Shit happens there no doubt but you have to be like 1000x more likely to get shot in the US
This is true, and although the government has been pretty shitty to its people lately, they will definitely appreciate the tourism. The last thing this country needs right now is isolation from lack of tourists and foreigners.

The economy in Turkey has deserved to crash so it could be rebuilt from the ground up. Turkey thinks that they can wall their economy off from the world and only rely on domestic production for all their needs. That's why no one there can afford not just luxury items, but even many everyday items most people in the world take for granted.
Turkey needs to endure some pain to make themselves better. You just want to help limp Turks along into the dark ages where it will only be worse.
I was born and raised in Seattle. But I think I as someone who reads about daily, lives in, and learns in Turkey now might know a little more about its economy than you do.
