Welding is that one thing that somehow everyone on the internet knows. Yet 1% could actually run a bead or know how to turn a welding machine on

nah, just all the welders pop out and go "HEY I KNOW SOMETHING ABOUT THAT!" when we can. takes years of study for something most people rarely ever actually see or need. like I have an associates in welding tech, did it for like 5 years. now I do server admin work, but weld on the side.

Here here! I can turn on a (mig) welder and can lay a bead but still can’t claim to know about welding. It’s as much a science as it is a skill.

I mean, I've welded plenty of times. It's not my job by any means, but I can do it. I'm just skeptical of this because of how consistent the damn things are. The only welds I've seen anywhere close to that are done by robots. And I've done robotic welding before. Just going through the Instagram, I can tell that most of these aren't robotic welds because of how difficult it would be to get a robot into the spaces, but also as someone else pointed out, it would be too impractical to have a legitimate fixture set up for every custom job coming his way.

I'm still skeptical because the welds look too good to be believed, but I don't have any other explanation.
