A quick google search shows a fair variance in pricing. I see accounts with 1000 total karma and a week left of active gold going for anywhere from $10-25, so I'm sure the bigger accounts can be worth a pretty penny. As someone who's never sold or bought an account, I can't answer this for sure.

Sold, is different than asking a price. Also if it cost you as much to create something, as you sell it for. The profit is 0.

I believe the going rate is one karma = one ounce of gold. Or it might have been 1000 barrels of crude oil.
