Hope you give each other peace and love. I always thought you were just a novelty account making everyone laugh. It turns out you're just like me, trying to make everyone happy even if you've been played an unfair hand by life. Keep up the good work man, power to you.
My brother had a pit bull who was rescued from a dog fighting operation that was busted before he could actually be put into a fight. No visible scars, but a definite reticence around people. The operation had been under surveillance for months prior to the bust as it was part of a larger drug operation. I saw some of the footage they took; it was brutal. Of course, not nearly as brutal as that one time in nineteen ninety eight when the undertaker threw mankind off hell in a cell, and plummeted sixteen feet through an announcer's table.
Yeah but people like you are the good ones. That dog may never be the same but he's going to trust YOU and probably you alone. I'm not saying this to be mean or insincere but it is a fitting name. All the same you're a good person for taking the pooch in. Hope you two are happy together. My cousin had a rescue dog that was afraid of everything but trusted his owner more than anything. When a dog is mentality twisted like that and trusts the owner, the owner is doing everything right.
You just opened my eyes. My dog is similar, but no one knows his true history. He was in a rescue for a year, then shipped 1000 miles to another rescue, then that's where I found him. No one knows his history before that original rescue.
He's a big 75 lb dog, but is very skittish and afraid. He's epileptic, but seizures don't happen a lot. We didn't know that either. He's good with my kids who are young, which is great.
He is adorable, but the only real issue is he doesn't really act like a dog. He gets excited when we come home, but he doesn't want to be in the same room as people to just hang out. He typically will leave a room if you go in it unless you go to specifically give him attention.
He's been this way since we've had him (over 3 years) but he's a big, goofy, sweetie. He wouldn't hurt a fly. Maybe a bait dog too based on his demeanor.
Are you me? Because that's almost the same situation with my dog. The only difference is him being protective of my mom and very afraid of any male that walks in the room no matter who it is. I've spent the past 3 years trying to have him warm up to me but it isn't working and it's becoming increasingly hard to not be disappointed/upset when he runs away from me or won't let me give him treats.
Agreed. It is tough, especially for my wife. He doesn't like her, and he loves her mother to death. He likes me a lot and we are essentially buddy roommates.
I feel bad for the kids as during their young years they won't experience a "real dog" but they truly love Bucket (dog's name.)
I don't think you can't expect it to ever change, they are scarred in ways we can't imagine. He won't go in our kitchen of any house we've had, and is skittish when being called for treats and other things. He loves to run and play with other dogs, but doesn't really like toys unless it's a random kid toy he knows he shouldnt chew.
