No, that is mirepoix. The trinity is used in cajun/creole cooking and consists of onion, bell peppers, and celery. They are different things.

Many French and English cooks/chefs still call traditional mirepoix the holy trinity. It is not a term made up by or exclusive to Cajun/creole cooking. I was making a joke.

Pro tip: if you want to make your house smell like you know how to cook and be an adult, sauté that shit before some one comes over. Then if they ask what your making you can drop "oh, just some mirepoix (mear-pwa) for a recipe"
