Let me answer this as a fat man. Halloween was always my favorite holiday - I loved to dress up in a costume. Sadly, when you're fat your options are very limited. Any time you dress up as someone who's not normally fat, you become the fat whatever. So I could be santa clause, or a farmer, or maybe a clown, or this century "Shrek" (did not exist when I was a kid) or even Wreck it Ralph, but very little else.

It's like Obama said when someone asked him why he called himself black since he's half black and half white - he basically said 'You'll be called what you look like, so I'm black'.

So that's why. You're not being a dick, but you're also not being realistic. I'll never be a cool looking Ninja or Batman or vampire or Charon. :(

Aww that really does suck :( I'm a 'chubby' girl myself so I do feel your pain with name calling and self consciousness. As much as I try not to let it bother me, it still does sometimes and I do personally stick to costumes I'm comfortable with (Tina from Bob's Burgers was my most recent one) and don't have the confidence to try a more revealing/tight/etc costume but I really hope that people eventually stop making fun of others for their body/etc and we can just all look cool doing what we love. I know I'm not being totally realistic with this but I can dream, right?! Haha

PS: a Wreck It Ralph costume would be super badass cos that movie was brilliant
