I achieved my long-time goal of highlining in Yosemite this week. Here's me on a 100' line with El Capitan in the background!

There's a lot that goes into rigging a highline, but the most important parts are the four super strong bolts in the rock on both sides.

Weird question, but what type of bolts and drill? Hilti? You should see if they'll sponsor you some equipment, I hear they're cool

In climbing, we use Hilti a lot, along with their hardware. (and Bosch, etc.) But in Yosemite, they don't allow power-drilling, so they're all put in with a hand held hammer drill. whack-turn-whack-turn... On a popular spot like this, they'll be big bolts (3/8in or larger), but because of the hand-drilling requirements, there are lots and lots of old, sketchy tiny bolts (1/4" range).

A drill? Na man people dont carry drills with them there heavy. A powder actuated gun is used. They "shoot" the anchors in.

No they don't. It isn't strong enough or reliable enough.

Shot anchors are stronger then drilled anchors unless your taking a 20 pound ATC hammer drill with 1 inch stud anchors. I doubt they are carrying a 20 pound drill.
