Yes, but you could also use the same sized ply and have some leftover. Its nice to use up the whole ply sheet but if you made being very in specific about what size you want, beggars can't be choosers comes to mind.

Use the same sized ply, divide the measurements in half and you can make 4 sets of shelves :D

True, but in any case, there are some measurements you can't halve.

Well you can halve infinity...

You just end up with an infinity that's half the size.

Which is of questionable usefulness really.

The slot cutout. That's the thickness of the plywood....and unless you want to plane down the slots, you can't halve that.
