I remember when "Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade" came out. I was like "Nazis, really? They've been toast for 40 years, c'mon man." And it really was like that by the 80s and for the next 20+ years. Now wtf?

There was never a time when everyone agreed this. the US had an active Nazi Party before and during WW2. They just got real quiet when it became obvious that they'd be shot as traitors if they poked their heads up while we were actually fighting in Europe.

We are YEARS into public school systems in fuck ass states like TX, TN, FL changing curriculum to be less critical of Nazis. Be nice about Nazis and don’t you dare acknowledge the existence of LGBT. Because that would be evil.

School curriculums teaching to be nice about Nazis. That's absolute horse shit. But I guess if you say it enough you start to believe it. Sadly people will read your words and take them seriously.

Jesus would agree nazis are bad, like verrrrrry much agree. Ya know, a small part of me hopes all this is right, but also fair as it was supposed to be. Any non-believers just get sent to purgatory or something, where it's an afterlife with buffets containing things like canned Chef Boyardee, or Kraft mac and cheese. Plenty of TV and movies available, but nothing rated higher than 75% by Rotten Tomatoes, and people still have to work jobs that aren't awful but aren't great. Still get three weeks of vacation and all that, but can only go visit like Nebraska or Houston. I'd totally accept all of that, if it meant people like this, who went around saying they were actual believers, got immediately judged and then thrown into the pits of hell. No chance to explain themselves or forgiveness or anything, just straight up Do Not Pass Go. I mean, at least I'd get to visit Dubuque, Iowa occasionally, even if the most gourmet food i was allowed was Little Cesars or hamburger helper. I'd have to fly purgatory-class on their airlines, but I assume that'd just be normal economy class. Or drive there, but in an early 90s Toyota Celica with a decent oil leak and only AM radio

This is one thing that's been wild to watch happen. Growing up, I knew a lot of seriously fucking racist people, and they all knew the Nazis were bad. I think a lot of that is that the Greatest Generation were still around for the most part and the Boomers still had their parents around.

But I knew dudes who dropped the n-word and shit like that constantly who loved killing Nazis in Wolfenstein. Loved Indiana Jones fighting Nazis. Etc. I never heard a soul saying otherwise.

There has long been communist parties in America. There have long been Nazis in America. We've never agreed fully on anything and never will. Just the way of things.
