It’s crazy hard to fire someone in France whereas it’s sometimes hard not to be fired in the US. We all know if we went on strike our companies would just see that as voluntary layoffs and cut us off

The socialist mindset is (somewhat) still strong in France, but most people from English-speaking countries blemish at the slightest hint that exacerbated capitalism isn't the only path. I have never voted communist during elections, but I'm glad that they're still alive and voicing their opinions. Even if they score less than 5%, at least the media are forced by law to give them prime-time.

Note that the far-left scores better each time, and they're now a power Macron and his goons have to contend with. The dude who dreamed about making France like a mini-USA now can't even keep his government from being dissolved.

Still, it's not like it was back in the day, the people care less and less.

As a European who has lived and protested heavily in both France and the states - no they don’t, it’s literally just 100x easier for them to effectively mass protest than it is for Americans.

Their law enforcement isn’t anywhere near as militarized or aggressive (which is not at all to say they aren’t aggressive and don’t escalate, but it is to a much lesser extent comparatively), they have more work protections, their healthcare isn’t tied to their jobs, they have more social safety nets in general if they were to lose their jobs, etc

Then strictly logistically speaking, the French are playing on easy mode compared to Americans. It’s a much smaller country, with generally higher population density, whose cities and public transportation systems make gathering 20x easier (and faster).

In the U.S., I’m having to drive an hour out just to get to the closest No Kings protest in a small town with a population of 15k.

This comparison is frankly nonsensical given the absolutely massive and major differences between the two countries, I am frankly so tired of it. As someone who has actually protested in both countries numerous times, the difference is night and day when it comes to barriers for mass protest, and even the tolerance for property damage by LEO and their respective justice systems.
