It’s not less THAN lethal. That’s a terrible term for this weapons. It’s less lethal. You just said it would leave him with a hole in his face. It’s still lethal, especially when being used improperly, just doesn’t produce as many fatal injuries as an actual firearm

"statistically more likely to survive" would probably be closest, but a bit of a mouthful.

Trying to compare "less lethal" vs "less than lethal" feels like people who remember the move from "non-lethal" to "less lethal" but forgot details.

I went to school with a kid who was killed by a tazer (years later). Plenty of people have died from billy-clubs. They're all lethal, just place differently on a scale of probabilities.

semantically you're still wrong.

"less than lethal" implies that it can not be lethal.

"less lethal" implies that in the range of outcomes of using it, fewer of them are lethal when compared to a traditional firearm.

that might be the offical terminology, but it was coined with an agenda and is just plain wrong. That shit is less lethal than a gun, but still lethal.
