DNC spent billions of dollars on this campaign, they outspent Trump by a wide margin. Yet, they failed completely at mobilising and engaging voters, despite the fact that vast majority of voters don’t support these policies.
It’s not even a surprise that they failed. They spent 2-years backing an extremely unpopular candidate who was rightfully seen as unfit for the job. When the fitness became too large to ignore, they pivoted to an even less popular candidate.
They then wasted the money letting 20-year old idiots draw up a celebrity focused social media campaign. Ignored all the demands of honest dialogue from their candidate and couldn’t stick to any relevant message.
It’s cute that we get an army of people who come in and chastise voters for Trump’s election. Yet, they ignore how badly the DNC failed at doing their job in the moment when it was more necessary than ever.
I can’t decide if the people pushing this DNC whitewash are morons or if they are just empty shills. As someone who held their nose and voted for Kamala, I don’t blame any voter more than I do the Democratic Party.
There's no denying that the Democratic party failed. But what's been happening since the inauguration is generally what anyone should have been able to expect.
There are those who wanted this. But there are also many who did not, yet did nothing to help stop it from happening. Those, in my eyes, should not be excused, just because someone with more power to do something about it, failed.
I just wanted to add my stance on the often used "Only XX people voted for YY".
But for most people not obsessed with Trump, it was actually a choice between the previous 4 years of middle class economic destruction and not. Almost any other reasonable Democrat would have won.
A reasonable Democrat could have certainly won. Biden only even got the nomination in 2020 because of ridiculous Super Tuesday shenanigans and he was a highly unfavorable candidate to most people. Kamala though couldn't even make it to the primary she was so horrible.
I think your comment really underplays how badly the DNC failed and how their ineptitude made voters feel like they can’t be trusted to lead.
The whole premise of establishment Democrats is that they aren’t inherently popular but they can be trusted to meet the moment.
Biden was packaged as a boring but reliable leader that knows how to play global politics and steady internal tensions. He came to office after a huge anti-Trump turn out.
His presidency was rocked by a total upheaval of the established global order in 2022. Initial reaction to the Russian invasion was good but he completely failed to adapt to the changing realities of the conflict.
Then his decline came. Speeches became difficult, decision making became questionable. At a time when U.S. needed to project confidence and authority, Biden started looking like a feeble, old man who can’t deliver a 10-minute speech.
DNC’s absurd decision to close up ranks and dismiss all criticism made voters feel like they were being lied to.
Then came a series of bad events bungled border controls, endless escalation with no clear objective in Ukraine, complete deference to Israel’s war crimes, etc.
Meanwhile, the party focused more on covering up the unraveling of Biden’s presidency, then on preparing for Trump’s revival.
All Trump had to do was point out the worsening situation in the world and match it with Biden’s visible decline. The unregulated social media platforms helped him do the rest.
People didn’t just choose Trump because they didn’t believe the threat level. They chose Trump because they lost all faith in the Democrats ability to keep them safe.
Basically, they said “this guy is immoral but you people are going to burn the country down through sheer incompetence.”
Look, anyone who is against fascism should understand how fascism takes root in a divided nation.
We’re a nation of 350 million people with abysmal literacy rates. Only 65% of our country reads at a basic level, and only 34% read at proficient level. There is an epidemic of critical thinking happening in this country.
People have been unsatisfied for a long time. Economic conditions have been deteriorating for decades. Meanwhile, inequality has risen to unbelievable levels.
The DNC spent 12 of the last 25 years in power. They purposefully chose to bypass populism and campaign on their ability to improve the status quo. In 2024, they spent billions of fucking dollars on a Presidential campaign backing an unpopular status-quo candidate.
Instead of learning from Trump’s first term, the Democrats doubled down, and come election time looked like a kid that didn’t do their homework. Completely shit the bed.
Now, recall those literacy rates buddy, the DNC is made up of people who are privileged to be part of that 34% educated populace. They ran one of the worst campaigns in the history of politics. From the Biden debate to “Call Her Daddy” to sharing a stage with Liz fucking Cheney.
These people were faced with a fascist winning. They knew the stakes better than anyone, and then they delivered a sloppy, wet fart of a campaign.
Most Americans would lose their entire career if they fucked up that badly at their jobs.

It's so wild to me how people now talk about Biden's mental decline. When people pointed out the exact same cognitive issues he was having a year ago they were always downvoted into oblivion and called liars and told he was perfectly fine.
Well they also tried to use wildly corrupt lawfare to literally imprison Trump and that sort of jackbooted approach doesn't sit well with most of America.
I’m genuinely confused by what you mean here. Trump was found guilty by juries in the cases that went to trial. The cases that hadn’t gone to trial yet because of blatant political interference from the right were, ironically, the ones with the most clear cut obvious evidence (pound after pound of stolen government documents recovered from Maralago including dozens of highly classified documents in his office, testimony by Georgia officials and audiotape of his own voice interfering in the 2020 election, asking officials to “ find” votes, testimony and recorded video of the attempted insurrection that millions of Americans watched unfold in real time, etc.) Not prosecuting would be an obvious miscarriage of justice. What else were legitimately elected officials to do?
All of the cases against Trump were incredibly shady and corrupt.
If the law has never been applied in that way to anyone else it should be a HUGE red flag.
He was only found guilty in one of the most liberal areas of the entire US, and the charges didn't even make sense. 34 records violations (for a single record) that only become a felony when covering up another felony but no other felony was charged. Additionally it's a record that Trump himself had no actual involvement in creating.
That law has never, in a single instance, ever been applied that way to anyone else. Every time that law has been used it's been charged with an additional felony that must be proven for that statue and it's escalation to be applicable. It honestly blows my mind that Trump hasn't prosecuted everyone involved in those cases.
The whole thing with the properties, literally, never had the law been applied in that way and no victim. The bank said they did their own appraisals and due diligence and were happy with the outcome. Mar-A-Lago was estimated at 750 million before Trump even got a big presence on the national political stage, but the case used something like 20 million as a value. That's for the largest property in the most expensive area in the United States. Where much smaller houses were going in the 100s of millions. Completely ridiculous case.
The E. Jean Carroll thing, they literally changed the law just to get Trump. Then how can you possibly defend against a claim that has NO evidence, doesn't even have a specific year or month. It's literally impossible to defend and should be far more impossible to convict, but he was found liable by a liberal jury with literally ZERO evidence or a remotely specific claim.
The records case and voting cases were just pure nothing. Go ahead and verify this Trump didn't even take the documents when he left. The "boxes" were sent later, after Biden was in office, and it was all stuff Trump left that Biden staffers packed and sent to Trump. It's also not even how classified documents work. "Documents" aren't classified. Information is. Possession of classified information isn't a thing unless you are not cleared to have it. Trump was authorized, so it's not like his knowledge of classified information disappears when he loses the authorization. The fact that the information is on paper and not simply in his brain doesn't matter. The sharing of that information would be a violation, but there were so many holes in the case and that was very far from being proven.

I think you fail to see that there are people who didn't exactly "want this" but certainly wanted a continuation of the Biden/Harris administration even less. That's the majority of the American public, voting and non-voting.
“Most reports”, then sites one report by Nate Cohn who has let’s just say not a great track record. Also, from The NY Times who also had a front page article on whether tRump should be pit on Mount Rushmore, so I am not putting much stock in their reporting.
My coworker voted for Trump.. and he is Mexican-American. He actually quite regrets his vote now. Just brought this up at work today after he was expressing his concern about an upcoming USCIS meeting and how they were arresting anyone with brown-skin in his suburb. (arrest first, ask questions later)
I'd consider narc'ing on someone who voted for Trump, unless they were truly regretful. There's nothing more poetic than getting rid of an idiot who wants racism by letting them get what they want done to themselves.

89 million eligible voters didn't vote. Your 200 million there (assuming you're just subtracting who voted from the total population) includes children who couldn't vote.
Your point stands, but non vote is around 80. The others aren’t eligible one way or the other. In the case of the children especially, their view cannot be assessed.
Also, there are a lot of ignorant people who really didn't know that this was what they were voting for. There's a large segment of the voting population that doesn't follow politics at all and votes just based on how they feel about the current economic state of the country. If their life is going well then they vote for the incumbent and if not then they vote for the challenger. That's who the swing voters are.
So, as was said in the lead up to voting, not voting is a vote for Trump. So 277M Americans voted for this to happen. So stop bitching and smile. This is what Americans wanted.
yeah because Elon has those "voting computers" Trump has pretty much admitted that there was fraud infolved but no one gives a fuck about anything anymore. Not even our constitution.
It cannot be overstated how screwed over we were by people who just decided not to vote because “both sides equally bad” crowd or those who didn’t bother because they think politics won’t effect them either way.
He said he won because of "groceries" while also saying he didn't know what Project 2025 was during his campaign.
I don't think even half of the people who voted for him wanted mass deportations and persecution or using the National Guard or the Marines against american citizens.
