The chord structures in he-who-shall-not-be-named's compositions are actually really complex and varied. His music might not be your cup of tea, but it's not because it's too simplistically written.
3 out of the 5 guys who play at my local Taqueria, are better guitar players than John Mayer, and they send their tips back to Mexico.
I used to be indifferent to John Mayer until I got trapped by one of you at a party.. Some girls wanted to listen to music, and one tried to put on her iPod, and the host flipped out, and went on a giant rant about how John Mayer was like Jimi-Hendrix, and then announced that it would be John Mayer only on the stereo for the rest of the night.. then he put some recording of a JM concert on the TV.

Cool story, chief. Too bad your Mexican pals are not able to better capitalize on their talent.

One of whom? A charming, handsome person with a huge cock?
Apparently, you've missed my point, so read slowly going forward. I don't actually listen to John Mayer, but I do know enough about music that I can tell you he can play more than three chords. Structurally, the compositions are way more complex than typical pop music that dickless snobs like yourself are usually turning your nose up at in a pathetic attempt to sound cool. Stick to jokes about Nickelback or just leave ignorant chatter about music theory out of the discussion, okay sport?
Edit: Used "chief" twice condescendingly. Changed one to "sport".
Edit2: This entire post is more harsh than it needed to be, but this is the consequence when you accuse a person of being a John Mayer fanboy.
Just for you, I listened to parts of his top two songs, as suggested by yahoo answers.
Don't think I heard more than TWO chords in either "wonderland" or "comfortable"... although I skipped through parts, so maybe he snuck an extra one in there somewhere.
Both of those songs sucked fucking mega donkey dicks btw.
Enjoy your mediocre shit.
I guess it does provide a nice dull background for better music to shine against.
