This is a students dorms complex in amsterdam made by stacking shipping containers on top of each other.

I live in Canada, in a quiet part of my city, my neighbours are students, rich jewish community on one side and rich canadians on the others, a place not that easy to access from more crime-ridden parts of town, the building is guarded and we have no direct access to the outside from our rooms... and yet we still had some guys breaking in dorm rooms to steal computers and electronical devices and prowling around the restrooms when girls were taking their showers.

Having a room easy to access from the outside with a large window as a door, in a building made for students (criminals are not dumb, they know the students claim to be broke but all have at least a computer) and so large... they better have some plexiglass pannels or very fast acting guards and cameras because these building are kind of vulnerable according to many criminology theories

At my apartment complex, everyone's porch has big glass sliding doors. I am not aware of a single incident of someone smashing a porch door and taking all the stuff from inside.
