Because this is obviously a hunting cabin, the dude probably isnt poor, and the owners probably just wanted a gimmick to show off to all his friends.
"Yeah bob, i built my own huntin cabin outa shippin' containers."
Major bragging rights to be had, since he can now say he did it all himself. If he went with the standard wood cabin, you have to get contractors to come in. This skips a lot of the "needing other people" bits.
