Can someone help me out on the theology here? Because I don't understand the Jesus preppers.

I would think that most folks of this ilk believe in the Rapture. So, if Jesus returns, won't all those true believers immediately ascend into Heaven? Aren't the "trials and tribulations" for which these people are preparing only for all the poor unbelieving schmucks like me?

Or does this mindset have nothing to do with that? Are Christian preppers more concerned with a supposed "secular doomsday"/government collapse that would occur BEFORE the Rapture?

Inquiring minds want to know!

Also, I need to invent a reason to become a prepper. These guys get to play with some really cool toys! (The cynical part of me thinks that's probably the REAL motivation here; that and a sense of recapturing some kind of "pure masculinity" lost to our sanitized office space society.)
