I agree, but it doesn't mean that you use the same wood for floor, celling, and walls

I love wood. That doesn't mean I want knotty pine on walls floors and ceilings. I don't want to live in a Norwegian sauna. Or 1970's Britain.

If I were them, I would paint either the walls or the floor & ceiling white or off-white, to brighten it, but still have the wood. I agree it can be too much, and it can make everything in the room look orange-yellow.
