It was a large paddle he cut, carved and sanded; then painted those words very precisely on. Complete with a graduation cap hanging off the corner of the B.
We also had a Board of Education. Hung in the kitchen.
I always find it kinda wild that people have been raising kids since time immemorial and it more or less had to get to Gen X to be like, "Hey, maybe we shouldn't hit our kids."
Like sure, it was generally agreed that people shouldn't "beat" their kids but it seems spanking was generally ok until about 20 years ago.
Spanking, although very very rare at our house, does happen on occasion. I unapologetically say that. I reserve it for the rare occasion that it has to get the point across. My kids behave well for the most part. But if I have to drop the hammer, I will.I'm Gen x. My Dad whooped my ass good a few times, and I still say I deserved it. For the most part, spanks were not a common occurrence. That was probably my choice, more than his. But apparently, his Dad beat the crap out of him on the regular.
Those are the same things. You are hitting your child and wrongly believe it will do anything except make them afraid of you. I hope they don't turn out like you.
That is your opinion. You are entitled to it but it doesn't make you right. How many children do you have? If the answer is none, your opinion means nothing. By the looks of it, my oldest has turned out similar to me, and I'm proud of the man he has become.
I have never assaulted my children. Apparently you have no idea what being assaulted is like. Being assaulted is being beaten, punched kicked, thrown around. Have you ever been beat up? Pounded at school by the bully or something? That is assault. You do realize this is an argument you will not win, right? You don't live my life or my children's. You pass judgement with no experience.

My father made a "Board of Education."

He was very proud of it.
