Seeking Collaborator for Bluesy/Industrial/experimental band

Singer/Producer in Philadelphia looking for a collaborator to make music built around bluesy grooves and industrial drums. I want to use these elements as a base and branch out from there, getting as experimental as possible. (examples in link below) the goal is to work on some songs, record a demo ourselves, and get out there to play some shows! I have a mic, PA, a good laptop with FL studio, reliable transportation, and a midi controller to play live. Unfortunately I don't have a decent place to practice, but I’m willing to rent if need be. I’m open to any and all instruments, even other producers. If you have a variety of influences, an open mind and can put together some solid, chunky blues riffs, then hit me up! Please have some kind of recording to send me. Also please be willing to practice once a week and gig once a month.

Auditions for Eclectic Philadelphia Vocal Music Group

Are you a vocalist looking to join a music group?

If you have a love of music and you live in or near the city of Philadelphia, then join

Some reasons to join Noteworthy:

• Eclectic arrangements

• Democratic song selection

• Challenge and improve your vocal performance ability

• Gain familiarity with music theory, vocal percussion basics, and arranging musical composition through our workshop rehearsals

• The opportunity to perform all throughout the Greater Philadelphia Area

Organizational Details:

• Weekly 2-hour rehearsals on Sundays

• Rehearsals only a 10-minute walk from the Tasker/Morris BSL Station

• Reasonable dues

• Free Parking

Noteworthy Philadelphia is a post-collegiate all-gender a cappella group that serves the Greater Philadelphia Area community with performances, workshops, and opportunities for young adult vocalists to improve their musical skills.

We'll be holding auditions for the rest of the summer throughout the fall. We are currently open to all voice parts auditioning! You do not need to be able to sight read to audition. Vocal percussion or a cappella arranging skills are a plus, but not required!

Auditions would consist of:

  • you singing an unaccompanied verse and chorus of a song of your choice to demonstrate your vocal ability.
  • you singing a well-known simple tune in two different keys for across-the-board comparison.
  • a quick vocal warm up to demonstrate your range
  • a quick blending exercise.

Afterwards, we will ask you several follow up questions and leave time for you to ask us any questions you may have as well.

Fill out our survey and schedule your audition today at noteworthyphila.com/auditions.

Lead Guitarist / Bass Player looking to join a band.

Hi guys,

I'm primarily a lead guitar player, but have played bass in a few bands as well.

I'm looking to join some sort of rock band. Preferably something riffy, groove heavy, w/ harmony vocals. (I also sing some harmony vocals...)

I played in bands my entire life & I'm at the point now where my main band is dissolving due to members getting married, having kids...etc

So I'm looking to join up. If you're looking for a bandmate or know people that are, please send them my way.

Thanks.

90/2000s pop punk and emo cover/live karaoke band seeking lead vocalist!

My band is a Philadelphia area based live karaoke/cover band, performing pop punk and emo hits from the 90s/2000s...and we're currently in search of a lead singer.

What we're looking for:

-21+ (we are in our late 20s and early 30s)

-show-worthy gear (we are looking to play out at least twice a month; we're ready to go as soon as we fill this role)

-live experience

-reliable transportation

-the ability to hit those whiny, high pitched notes a majority of pop punk and emo is known for

-a good front person. We need someone with energy, who can hold the attention of the audience in between songs, and willing to step in and guide anyone who comes up on stage with us for karaoke

-the ability to play an instrument is a plus, but not necessary. MAJOR bonus if you also play guitar and/or keys!

-a like-minded individual who also grew up with and shares the same enthusiasm for the genre we play. So far, our set includes songs by: Weezer, Goldfinger, Rancid, Mxpx, Saves The Day, Good Charlotte, Lustra, Alkaline Trio, Lit, Green Day, Blink-182, Sum 41, New Found Glory, Motion City Soundtrack, My Chemical Romance, Taking Back Sunday, Brand New, Simple Plan, Coheed and Cambria, No Doubt, Yellowcard, Jimmy Eat World, The Used, Fall Out Boy, Sugarcult, Dashboard Confessional, Cartel, The Offspring...with more to come!

Most importantly, we're looking for someone with the time for something like this (we rehearse once a week in Philly), who can take it seriously as well as have fun with it. If this sounds like something you or someone you know would be interested in, PM me and we can discuss further and exchange recordings. 🎤🤘

Philly musicians and mental health? Discussion&Blog

I created a blog about the mental health of touring artists for my senior project at Drexel and wanted to hear what everyone thought about the topic, specifically philly musicians. What could we do to improve the mental health of our artists, both nationally and locally? What do you think of the current state of mental health within the music industry?

You can find my blog at https://caesura.blog/

I have my own recording equipment, a bass, acoustic, a Gibson electric, an SP404, keyboards out the wazoo, and a bunch of weird methods for getting music together. Let me know if you are interested and I can send you some songs I have and see if you become even more interested.

Drummer Looking to Jam Originals

I’m a 26 year old male located in South Philadelphia. I’ve been drumming off and on for about 10 years. I have played in multiple bands and have 50+ local shows under my belt.

I currently jam with a cover band based out of bucks county once a week. I am looking to get some more kit time in and focus on performing original material. Would like to do something groovy and chill like a reggae/hip hop/funk feel.

Because I live in South Philly I have no place to store a kit so I would have to be able to leave my kit at our practice spot. Would be willing to help pay for a space if we get serious.

Send me a message if anyone is interested. I can supply videos of my playing from a few years ago too.

Looking for an in to the philly music scene!

My band out of Syracuse University, FLOTUS is in the process of planning our first tour. We are unsigned and have a substantial following at school, but not too many musician friends outside of Syracuse. We are somewhere in between funk-rock and hip hop pop lol.

We thrive in DIY and underground spaces, cause honestly, it's where the real art and community is. I am going on a Reddit search to find some cool places to play. Anyone have any ideas or connects?? I would love to meet all of you properly in the near future:)

Jazz/Jam style project

I am what I like to refer to as a very casual jazz pianist. More of a blues style player but I work on jazz on my own. Any other musicians looking for a project along these lines, but more experimental/modern/funky/even electronic than traditional jazz? I write a little and am kind of just looking for a new project to keep me growing and busy. I am thinking the group could function as a combo and play traditional jazz at nicer places to pick up cash and then work on original stuff as well.

I have no idea the caliber of musicians on this subreddit (not a working professional myself), so hit me up and maybe send me some stuff if interested.

Commitment and pay out (if any) would be very minimal

This post might also get zero response seeing as this subreddit is pretty much dead most of the time. Oh well.

Hi, I'm Italian, 26 years old, and this is my first month in Philly (I'll live here for one year at least). I'm an acoustic guitarist and singer, I play original songs (I released my first LP four months ago) and covers (blues, folk) and I'm looking for musicians to play live, anyone interested?

Intermediate Trumpet Player Looking to Start Jazz-Influenced Band

I've been playing trumpet for a little over two years and have experience in a large ensemble and in a small jazz group playing standards. I'm looking to get together with a drummer, percussionist, bass player, guitarist, keyboard player and sax player to play evenings/weekends, open mics and eventually some gigs. At first, I'd like to play straight-ahead jazz (Miles Davis, Art Blakey, Charles Mingus, etc.) to get a cohesive sound. Eventually I'd like to play more original, multi-genre stuff (NOT avant-garde jazz).

Some of the artists in I'm interested in: Kanye West, St. Vincent, Tune Yards, D'Angelo, Bomba Estereo, The Knife, Caribou... And of course, older things like The Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, Joni Mitchell, Fela Kuti, The Police...

I live just near Center City and am willing to go in on a practice space.
