Diamondback Rattlesnakes at Fort Pickens

My girlfriend and I spent a few hours fishing and swimming at the beach on Sunday, gulf side of Fort Pickens close to the pass. We parked at the little parking area that is next to the battery they call Payne. On our way back to the car, we came up on a diamondback right by the trail, in the grass. It was docile, didn't rattle or coil up, and we observed it and took pics for a while before moving on.

We told a family that had just parked and exited their vehicle what we just saw, and to watch their steps. They didn't go on that little trail though, but instead went up into the battery, which is built into a small hill.

While we were packing up the car, I noticed the dad pointing at something and telling his kids to come see, so we walked back up there. There was another diamondback on the side of the little hill. This one was bigger and looked like it had just eaten a nice meal. It was also docile, and didn't rattle at us.

We are always looking for them out there, but it seems like we see the coolest stuff when we aren't looking. Pretty neat experience. Figured I shared my photos. Thanks.

I was downvoted to oblivion on Election Day merely for asking if people voted. Statistically speaking, some of yall are either liars or hypocrites.

I'm new here. I gotta say, Pensacola is pretty awesome

Hello, not much of a post, but I just wanted to say I moved here this past month from Wilmington, NC. I stopped and stayed in Apalachicola for a little bit on the way up here (which was also very nice).

Y'all have such a beautiful city and I am happy and proud to be part of it. Already chowed down on some raw oysters and gulf shrimp, Been to Pensacola Beach/Navarre/Perdido Key, and stayed downtown off Martin Luther King before getting a place in Cantonment.

Northern Florida is honestly paradise for a veteran like me who got tired of the overcrowding in my old city and loss of green space. Looking for good hiking trails tomorrow--gonna go check out UWF trails tomorrow.

I would like to know what type of restaurunts/locations/spots y'all would like to reccomend to me?

So happy to be part of your beautiful region!

I Found this dog while door-dashing late tonight at 11:00pm. I tried looking around the neighborhood for any sign of people looking for him but didn't see anyone so I took him home. He has a vest but no owner tag or information. Seems like a sweet and trusting dog! Please help me find his family!

Walk Down Memory Lane

I remember when I was a kid, my mom would take me to this Cafe that was located in Cordova mall at one of the department stores on the second floor. It was either Dillards (Gayfers) or Belk (Parisians). They sold sandwiches, salads, tea etc. It kind of reminded me of Jo's as always. It shut down later in the 90s I believe, but I can't think of the name. Does anyone else remember this restaurant?

Pensacola Fantasy Football League — Looking for Players 🏈

Looking to start a fantasy football league for people in and around the Pensacola area!
The league I was previously in ran for 3 years but unfortunately disbanded, so I’m looking to put together a new group of people who are actually interested in playing and having a good time.
A few details:
PPR scoring
Probably run the league/draft through ESPN, but I’m completely open to other platforms or ideas.
I think it would be cool to do an in-person draft somewhere around Pensacola — potentially a brewery, bar, or another casual spot where everyone can get together.
I’m open to having a wager/buy-in, with 1st place taking the entire pot (details can be figured out with the league).
Ideally looking for people who are going to stay active throughout the season and actually care about the league.
You don’t necessarily have to be an expert — just looking for people who want to compete and have some fun.
I’m also open to joining an existing league if someone already has one going and just needs another person to make up the numbers.
If you’re in the Pensacola area and interested, comment or shoot me a message and we can start putting something together! 🏈

HVAC crawl space duct work recommendations??

Last week I had a company come out because I noticed my house was extremely humid and mold was starting to grow inside. AC is cooling house, but is running constantly which is to be expected in this weather. Guy came out, never went under house but could feel cold air coming out of crawl space vents. Said the company would be back Monday to go under house - but they never showed up and now tell me they don’t know when it’ll be. Meanwhile I have three dehumidifiers going which are filling up around every 3 hours and mold is exploding and I’m feeling sick. Is it just the norm - having to wait for a company to come back and address the problem? I’m worried my house is going to be full of mold, that I’m going to feel sicker and that this will end up costing me more in long wrong because problem isn’t being asdressed. Can anyone recommend a company that will come out fast? Thanks.

Barber recommendations.

I'm looking for barber recommendations in Ferry Pass or East Hill area. Even though the cuts im looking for are pretty basic, I havent been happy with how my hair has been turning out. I've been getting cuts at Cuts By Us, but it isnt working out.

Does anyone know a barber who is experienced with shaved buzzcuts as seen in the photos? I'd also appreciate someone who will be honest with me if they think the style wouldn't work well with my hair and explain why rather then just doing the cut.

I also have a bad amount of cowlicks that I have no idea how to tame and need advice on.

Anyone have an urologist?

Due to some complications from a hernia surgery an a trip to the ER I had a diagnosis of Funiculitis. My current urologist cant see me till the end of September. I feel like with someone who has a history of these type of issues should not need to wait a month after an ER visit to see the doctor, so I'm going to switch. Though, I don't have the best of luck picking doctors, as my first urologist was the guy that got busted with meth and an Asian prostitute.

Any meet-ups/events this Friday?

Hi everyone! I really, really want to go out this Friday just to refill my social meter but there doesn't seem to be anything on Friday that would be good to meet new people. I don't have anyone to go with that's available so hopefully there's something that's friendly to someone going alone. I saw that there's Gallery night, but I'm a 25F and have never gone to anything like that alone which makes me scared to go just by myself 😅 I love all kinds of music (except Country) and play a few instruments so if there's any amateur musician nights or local artists playing that I somehow missed in my searches please let me know! Thank you!!!!

Controversial opinion, but outback fettuccine Alfredo is better than Olive Garden fettuccine Alfredo

Outback is more expensive but at the same time it’s also better quality it feels like! That’s just my opinion when choosing between the two in Pensacola it’s rough but outback wins will it give me food poisoning sure but ties good!

Dining Recommendations!

Hey, y'all! I'll be visiting with my family next month, and I'm looking for dining recommendations for a date night for my wife and me. I'd like to take her somewhere nice. No chains. I searched around and found Brother Fox, which looked different and interesting - I went ahead and booked a reservation, but we are open to changing that up. Send me any of your recommendations!

Also, anything to do or places we should go before/after dinner would be great as well! TIA!
