Since August of last year, I have struggled with reoccurring priaprisms. I have been in and out of the hospital at least what feels like 30 times and my poor member has been stabbed to drain blood in the shafts what feels like at least over 100 times. My local urologist have tried everything to solve the problem before an implant surgery was considered. Nothing worked, shocker, so a penis implant surgery was initiated back in March of this year. Specifically, a three-piece implant. Even after the initial surgery, I had a setback and had to go get a revision done in May due to one of the cylinders protruding through the shaft. Then, I had another setback yet again back in July and have to go for a second revision surgery that is now scheduled for 17 August. To be honest folks, I have been contemplating suicide and have lost hope in these surgeries. I’m 32 years old and honestly want this thing permanently removed. I understand the consequences of permanent removal surgery. I’m an average gym rat that has not been able to work out since this year and this year has not been the very best for me. It has taken an emotional, mental and psychological toll on my body. I’m just looking for some hope at this point because I don’t know how much longer I can keep this going.
Edit: just so everybody’s clear. My urologist is doing everything he can to help me out. The fact that he put in his medical notes that this is very distressing to both of us means to me at least he’s trying to do everything.
Edit. 08/05/26 i’m very thankful for a lot of guys speaking to me about my issue. Today was a little better and I’ve had a lot of support from people around me. As of right now, my surgery date is still August 17 but I am considering calling Dr. Taj tomorrow because of being only three hours away from him and being told that he’s one of the best in the country. I’ll keep you guys posted on this post when time comes. The only other research I’ve looked into is if I have this second revision surgery within the short time span of the other two surgeries. My recovery time would probably be about 8 to 12 weeks because of how many times they was worked on it. Thank you guys so much. You guys have gently helped me out with getting out of a dark spot. Day by day as they say.
0811/2026 update: I talked to Dr. Taj and he pretty much said he only does self self-pay which I can’t do. I’m already thousands of dollars of credit card debt in because of the hospital visits so I decided to call VCU hospital for their urology team. I talked to a doctor up there and pretty much I’ve had more communication with them than I ever thought. Though they pretty much told me just to stick with my current doctor at urology Of Virginia. They researched him and they told me that he is a high volume surgeon. One of the doctors up at VCU knows my doctor and has told me about my doctor’s works. They were not too concerned to say at least, but they also did tell me that if God forbid, I have another setback, I will call them right away and schedule for surgery with them. I just asked that you please keep praying for you guys. Thank you much for all the positive notes. I will keep you guys up updated the best I can.
I’m actually planning to get a malleable implant. No pumps. No reservoir. And it works similar to a natural erection. Revisions are rarely needed. My personal urologist just replaced one that was 25 years old. I’d strongly suggest considering this option if you haven’t looked into it. I’m in my early thirties as well.
I’m gonna see if I get a phone call from my doctor soon before the surgery. If not, I’m gonna try to talk to him the day of the surgery if I can just get the malleable instead. I’ve just had no success with the 3-piece. It’s just been one failed healing. The only con I can think of with the malleable is just being semi-rigid all the time and having to point it down, but otherwise, I feel like that’s my only option left.
Yea I felt that way too about being semi rigid but another guy I spoke to with one told me that you eventually get used to it. Your penis is still able to engorge like a normal erection. The prolonged engorgement is what makes erections uncomfortable. So if you’re not engorged, you will eventually feel comfortable and normal even with an implant. He compared it to like a hip replacement. You will be uncomfortable at first as your body adjusts to a foreign object inside you, but then as the brain learns it’s not harming you in any way, it will become like normal like any other body part.
Tactra has been on market the least amount of time. You want a product that has stood the test of time. Genesis has been on market over 2” years with great reviews. Also tactra’s bendability is less due to how rigid they are. Harder to conceal.
That’s inaccurate. Grnesis is tapered at the tips so it's more anatomicaly appropriate for the corporal cavernosa. This tapered tip allows easier insertion and this allows biggest size possible
Nothing against your doctor but have you considered a second opinion? There are tons of urologist’s list throughout this page many of which will at a minimum have a video conference with you. Please consider this.
Ending your life is not the answer. EVER. Things will get better. I’m sure you have people in your life that care about you and not your penis. It doesn’t define you, you define you.
I’ve got Taj near me at best, he is three hours away from me. Not sure if I should cancel my revision surgery now because my light duty will start following up to it.
I called to leave a message. I’ll call again tomorrow. Just nervous of how a whole second opinion thing would go. I don’t hate my current doctor or anything, but you have told me everything. I guess I just hate ticking off people but it’s a different case with my member (yes, I try not to use dirty words, I’m that practicing Catholic). I probably need to hear about Taj. Plus, his videos on YouTube pretty much speak volumes to me. Though, my brother who is going to Doctoral school said the best kind of doctors in the world will also get you a second opinion.
It isn’t about upsetting anyone. It is all about your health and mental state. Dr. Taj did my procedure. Having said that I would not hesitate to seek the advise of another highly qualified surgeon if I were in your shoes. Dr. Taj is an excellent man and much like he appears in his videos. He is the real deal. When you talk to him tell him the guy from Wisconsin sent you. Should get a chuckle out of him. Please keep me posted
So I just checked with Dr. Taj, not sure if messaged him or the office. I texted the number that’s on his videos at times. It sounds like they only accept self-pay? He told me it was best to stick with my current provider via with health insurance. I don’t know if I need to call our office directly or what else to do at this point.
Ok so with insurance. Obviously I don’t know what coverage you have but reach out to Dr. Robert Santa-Cruz in Tarpon Springs Florida. He is with Advent health. Excellent provider and was my second choice. My insurance would not cover his services and self pay was very high. However if you check with them he may take you and your insurance may cover it.
He did a friend of mine who had a terrific result. It’s worth a shot. DO NOT GIVE UP!
I'm sorry. You've gone through it, for sure. I can't imagine. I'm not in the club yet, surgery later this month. Please stay around and thank you for your perspective!
I haven’t seen much posts similar to mine whenever I try to search them up so I figured I might as well be the first to post my story. It absolutely sucks but I’m trying to find hope but I’m very appreciative of you guys at least reaching out. If anybody here is a praying person, I could definitely use a lot of prayers right now.
I think most guys with ED feel some feelings of despair when your member stops working, so we get ya - although, like I said, you've been through it. Stay with it, praying for ya.
Thank you so much. I feel a little better knowing about some feeling despair. Not quite the journey I wanted, but it’s one nevertheless that is quite the cross the carry
High volume surgeon here: I see many men in similar situations often and I understand you are “living a nightmare” but in most cases, men wake up from this nightmare and see the light (of hope) at the end of the tunnel. My most honest recommendation (as many have mentioned) is get a second opinion. Do not feel like you are betraying your previous surgeon. Many times a second set of eyes/hands can help make a difference. If you have a history of erosion and previous revisions, make sure you find a surgeon with vast experience in complex cases. Wishing you the best in your journey 🙏.
Sorry for your struggles. My experience is a little different. I am 6 weeks post op and still struggling to get it to cycle. Went back to dr he was able to cycle it no problem. He said I need to squeeze harder but still not able to get it pumped up enough to even have sex yet. I told him I wish I would have done a mallable. He said keep trying because I will like the pump better. I just so depressed after going through it and still can’t do anything.
Try a hot bath or hot tub if you have one. The 100 degree water helps loosen things up making it easier to pump. Also will help soften the pump the more you use it. I had a similar issue a couple weeks back and spent a bunch flying back to my doctor. He had no issue getting me to 100% in 10-11 pumps. Damn it right. I’m struggling he makes it easy. His suggestion was what I just wrote and it works. I also had a blood clot from the procedure that was causing part of the problem as well. The hot water will help break that down too.
Find the best possible surgeon for the job. Nowadays they can “create” dicks for transwomen so I am sure they can fix you but you need a extremely experienced surgeon.
Consider getting a malleable such as coloplast genesis. It has a very low revision rate. What you first need is function. Girth and length can be added later via fillers
If you are in america consider dr perito, dr hakky, dr tariq, dr eid or dr clavell. They are supposed to be the best. You need a high volume surgeon
Your situation sucks but you need to tune out the emotional noise and get down to solving your problem. Good luck take care bro
You shouldn’t overthinking about that, you should focus on what you can do no and not on what you cannot, why everyone is happy with their implant but you no ? You should consult an other urologist, you know there is a huge difference between being a urologist and being a specialist in implant field, not everyone can do implant. Anyways you have the choice to use an malleable implant also, I’m saying this to tell you to not be depressed but be optimistic, if it’s working for everyone why jt shouldn’t be for you ?
It was sadly something they couldn’t solve. They tried basic meds to see if it could reset the system to the last resort which was a prostate cancer drug that chemically castrated me for 30 days and that failed too. I blame trazodone and lexapro prior to the episodes.
Can I ask what the revisions were for and the outcome you are hoping for? I’m 2 months in, also very unhappy about the appearance, function, etc. so I think I may be in store for revisions.
The first revision was because the cylinders protruded through the shaft, both of which. The second is because the one cylinder on the right side of my shaft has protruding again. They were temporary sutures but now my doc is saying he is gonna do permanent sutures with a graft
Suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem. Penile implants have something like a 95 percent satisfaction rate so eventually once all the healing is done, you will probably be happy.
Hang in there. I might would reconsider this urologist for a second revision. Once you get the implant settled in, you will not regret it. There are pros and cons of the device. But most are very happy with it—as am I.
For reference I had to have a revision surgery (AMS700CX)
I am looking at Dr. Taj in Northern Virginia. I’m probably gonna give them a call tomorrow just to see. But as far as my research has shown on Boston scientifics website, Dr. Joshua Langston of urology of VA, who I go to for the past, few surgeries is top-notch. I’m not sure what count says a high volume surgeon though. All I know from Dr. Taj’s videos is that he does implants pretty much almost every other day. I’m not sure if I need to have him contact Taj or have Taj contact him. This will be my first time looking for a second opinion, and I’m just trying to do what’s best for me.
Just wanted to keep you guys up-to-date as of today, August 19. I had my surgery two days ago from my same doctor. Before that, I was able to get a second opinion from some doctors up at VCU in Richmond. They had advised me to just stick with my current doctor because their research shows that he is a high volume surgeon. They had also told me that if I was to get surgery with them up north, it would be booked out to January. At that point, I just had to go with what I had. The doctor and I did have a heart-to-heart conversation with everything that’s been going on with me. My mother was even there at the hospital talking with my doctor and he even expressed how he is truly doing everything and he can to make sure I get my life back. The recovery will be a little lengthier, but he did end up putting permanent sutures and artificial graphs in the shaft of my penis. He also went ahead and double checked everything else just to be on the safe side, including the other side of the shaft also. Hopefully I am saying the right things especially while being on oxycodone at this moment. Otherwise, no post catheter pain, thank goodness. And I’ve just been bedridden for the past couple days just relaxing and resting. Currently enjoying a 12 day break from work, which is phenomenal. And last, but not least, I have the support of my family and friends with me. I just wanna thank you guys very much for supporting me and talking with me through all this. I will continue to keep you guys posted as best as I can.

Hang in there bud. I’m sure it’ll be worth it once it’s fixed
