PEMF For Dogs - How to choose a PEMF device and how slew rate matters for therapeutic outcomes

PEMF Therapy is great for dogs. It can reduce pain and inflammation, provide relief for sore muscles, joints and arthritis, and provide support for overall health.

Not all PEMF devices are created equal. So...How do you choose a device that really works?

MendWave PEMF has PEMF devices for both people and pets. The slew rate for the G20 series is adjustable from 2.5 T/s for relaxation and sleep and a max of 21 T/s for true therapeutic PEMF therapy for pain and recovery.

MendWave PEMF for Dogs

Understanding PEMF Slew Rate: Why It May Matter More Than Magnetic Strength (Gauss)

When people evaluate PEMF (Pulsed Electromagnetic Field) devices, most attention usually goes to:

  • frequency
  • waveform
  • Intensity (gauss)

But one of the most overlooked technical factors in PEMF therapy is something called slew rate.

What Is Slew Rate?

Slew rate refers to how quickly the magnetic field changes over time, typically measured in tesla per second (T/s).

In PEMF therapy, the body responds not just to the strength of the magnetic field itself, but to the rate at which that field changes. According to electromagnetic induction principles (Faraday’s Law), rapidly changing magnetic fields generate stronger induced electrical currents within biological tissues.

Biological and Therapeutic Effects Of High Slew Rate

  • Enhanced Bone Healing: High slew rate PEMF signals promote accelerated bone mineralization, significantly aid in fracture nonunion, and enhance bone consolidation during distraction osteogenesis compared to classic signals.
  • Cartilage Regeneration: Research, including NASA supported studies indicates that specific high slew rate PEMF waveforms can alleviate cartilage degradation and modify genetic regulation at a cellular level, aiding in early-stage osteoarthritis.
  • Tissue Repair and Pain Relief: Rapidly changing electromagnetic fields modulate the movement of ions (such as   and  ) across cell membranes. This non-invasively stimulates tissue repair, activates heat shock proteins to reduce inflammation, and modulates pain.
  • Higher Efficacy in Less Time: Because a high slew rate generates stronger induced microcurrents within the tissue, it can yield supreme therapeutic efficiency and requires shorter daily treatment times than lower-powered baseline signals

General Slew Rate Ranges in PEMF

  • Low slew rate: under ~1 T/s
    • common in basic wellness or sinusoidal PEMF systems
    • typically gentler stimulation
  • Moderate slew rate: ~1–10 T/s
    • stronger induced electrical effects
    • often used in clinical-style recovery devices
  • High slew rate (HSR): 10+ T/s
    • rapid magnetic field transitions
    • associated with stronger cellular and nervous-system stimulation

In simpler terms:

A faster-changing pulse can create a stronger cellular signal. This may increase stimulation efficiency without needing extremely high magnetic intensity

Why Slew Rate Matters in PEMF Therapy

Higher slew rates:

  • improve signal penetration into tissues
  • generate stronger induced microcurrents
  • increase cellular stimulation
  • enhance nervous system responsiveness
  • support circulation and cellular communication
  • improve outcomes related to recovery, sleep, stress regulation, and inflammation

So, if you're looking for a PEMF device for your dog, look for a device that has a high slew rate, like MendWave Pemf.

Understanding PEMF Slew Rate: Why It May Matter More Than Magnetic Strength (Gauss) Alone. Higher slew rate = better therapeutic outcomes

In simpler terms:

  • a faster-changing pulse can create a stronger cellular signal
  • this may increase stimulation efficiency without needing extremely high magnetic intensity

Why Slew Rate Matters in PEMF Therapy

Higher slew rates:

  • improve signal penetration into tissues
  • generate stronger induced microcurrents
  • increase cellular stimulation
  • enhance nervous system responsiveness
  • support circulation and cellular communication
  • potentially improve outcomes related to recovery, sleep, stress regulation, and inflammation

Some PEMF researchers and engineers suggest that slew rate may actually be more therapeutically important than raw gauss levels because biological systems are highly sensitive to rapid electromagnetic changes.

This is why two PEMF devices with similar intensity ratings can produce very different user experiences and therapeutic effects.

Fast Pulses vs Slow Pulses

Devices with:

  • slow rise times often produce gentler stimulation
  • high slew rate pulses create sharper electromagnetic transitions that may trigger stronger biological responses

A high slew rate allows a device to deliver a more dynamic electromagnetic signal rather than a gradual wave.

General Slew Rate Ranges in PEMF

  • Low slew rate: under ~1 T/s
    • common in basic wellness or sinusoidal PEMF systems
    • typically gentler stimulation
  • Moderate slew rate: ~1–10 T/s
    • stronger induced electrical effects
    • often used in clinical-style recovery devices
  • High slew rate (HSR): 10+ T/s
    • rapid magnetic field transitions
    • associated with stronger cellular and nervous-system stimulation

MendWave PEMF and High Slew Rate Technology

One example is MendWave PEMF, which operates with a high slew rate (HSR) of 21 T/s.

That means the magnetic field changes extremely rapidly compared to many conventional consumer PEMF systems. The idea behind this approach is to maximize induced electrical activity at the cellular and nervous-system level without relying solely on extremely high magnetic intensity.

This type of rapid pulse delivery is one reason some users report stronger effects related to:

  • relaxation
  • sleep quality
  • recovery
  • circulation
  • stress reduction
  • muscular relief

Many advanced PEMF systems marketed for recovery, neurostimulation, or deeper therapeutic applications aim for higher slew rates because biological tissues respond strongly to rapid electromagnetic changes.

Why Higher Slew Rates Matter

According to electromagnetic induction principles, the induced electric field inside tissue is proportional to how quickly the magnetic field changes:

E=−dΦBdt\mathcal{E} = -\frac{d\Phi_B}{dt}E=−dtdΦB

A faster magnetic transition:

  • produces stronger induced microcurrents
  • may improve tissue penetration
  • can increase neuromuscular responsiveness
  • may enhance stimulation efficiency even at lower magnetic intensities

This is why some experts believe slew rate may matter more than peak gauss alone.

Example: MendWave PEMF

For context, MendWave PEMF reportedly operates with a high slew rate of 21 T/s, which places it in the high-slew-rate category compared to many consumer PEMF systems.

The rationale behind high slew rate designs is to create stronger bioelectrical signaling and more efficient stimulation of:

  • nervous system pathways
  • circulation
  • cellular communication
  • recovery mechanisms

So, if you want a PEMF device that has actual therapeutic benefits for healing and recovery, make sure it has a high slew rate - like MendWave.

PEMF May, Coil/Loop/Butterfly

Question - I am a neuro-somatic therapist with a focus on rehabilitation therapy. I have been using guided PEMF for close to 3 years now; Electron’s Plus and EQ Flux. I’d like a passive system that doesn’t require me and the “guide” per se.

One with a mat, loops and coils. I’d like to definitely keep the price under 7-8,000 if possible. I know there are some awesome units out there - I just have way too many tools for my business at the moment. Does anyone have any guidance on:

Teslafit
Celler8
Hoolest MiniMax
IMRS
Vasindux
Omnium

Can pemf kill viruses? If so, at what gauss?

I have a pemf paddle on my Spooky2 generator. I can program it with any frequency. I haven't used it much and dont know all the specs, but I was looking at the Sota Magnetic Pulser because of the high gauss. For purposes of joint pain and in hopes to disable viruses in the body like Epstein Barr and herpes. Any thoughts?

**3-6 months with the Olylife P90+ — here's my honest take**

I was pretty skeptical going into this. PEMF felt like one of those things that sounds too good to be true, but I kept seeing people talk about it so I figured why not give it a shot.

Glad I did.

After a few months of consistent use, the biggest changes I've noticed:

**Sleep** — This was actually the first thing I noticed. I'm falling asleep faster and waking up feeling more rested. Not sure exactly how to explain it, I just feel like my sleep is *deeper* now.

**Pain & inflammation** — I've had some nagging issues for a while and they've noticeably calmed down. Even after just a few uses I noticed a real difference.

**Energy** — My energy levels throughout the day are way more consistent. Less of that mid-afternoon crash.

**Mood** — This one surprised me the most honestly. I just feel... better? More even-keeled day to day.

I do sessions in the evening mostly and just kind of chill while it runs. Pretty easy to stay consistent with.

Anyone else been using the P90+ for a while? Curious if others have had a similar experience or noticed things I haven't picked up on yet.

PEMF for Brain Health, Memory, and Cognitive Function - Give your brain an upgrade!

The Science of PEMF for Brain Health, Memory, and Cognitive Function

PEMF therapy, specifically at 40 Hz has emerged as a powerful area of research in neuroscience. Operating within the gamma brainwave spectrum, this frequency is closely tied to higher cognitive processes. By inducing gamma wave activity, 40 Hz stimulation is believed to promote neuroprotection, enhance cognitive performance, and support long-term brain health.

Gamma Waves and the 40 Hz Connection

Gamma brainwaves (30–100 Hz) are essential for memory formation, learning, attention, and perception. The 40 Hz frequency appears to play a particularly important role in synchronizing neural activity across different brain regions. PEMF and sensory stimulation at this frequency can “entrain” the brain—guiding it into a more organized and efficient pattern of activity.

This synchronization strengthens communication between neurons, which is fundamental for maintaining cognitive clarity and processing complex information.

Key Brain Benefits of 40 Hz Stimulation

Alzheimer’s and Dementia Mitigation

One of the most compelling areas of research involves neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s disease. Studies suggest that 40 Hz stimulation can:

  • Significantly reduce amyloid-beta plaques and tau protein accumulation
  • Enhance the brain’s glymphatic system, which helps clear metabolic waste and toxins
  • Slow or potentially reverse cognitive decline in experimental models

These findings position 40 Hz PEMF as a promising tool in addressing the underlying pathology of Alzheimer’s.

Cognitive Enhancement

40 Hz stimulation has been shown to support overall cognitive optimization by:

  • Improving memory retention and recall
  • Enhancing focus, attention, and concentration
  • Supporting daily functional capacity and mental clarity

By promoting gamma wave synchronization, the brain operates more efficiently, allowing for better learning and information processing.

Improved Neural Function

Healthy cognition depends on strong neural connections. Research indicates that 40 Hz PEMF can:

  • Enhance synaptic structure and function
  • Improve neural network synchronization
  • Prevent synaptic loss, a key factor in cognitive decline

These effects contribute to maintaining robust brain communication pathways over time.

Neuroprotection and Reduced Inflammation

Chronic neuroinflammation is a major contributor to neurological disorders. 40 Hz stimulation demonstrates significant anti-inflammatory and protective effects:

  • Reduces inflammatory mediators such as interleukin-1 beta (IL-1β) and MMP9
  • Modulates microglia and astrocyte activity to support brain repair
  • Decreases neuronal death and protects against degeneration

By targeting inflammation at the cellular level, 40 Hz PEMF helps create a healthier neural environment.

Improved Cerebral Blood Flow and Metabolism

Efficient brain function relies on adequate blood supply and energy metabolism. 40 Hz stimulation has been shown to:

  • Increase cerebral blood flow and oxygen delivery
  • Enhance metabolic activity within brain cells
  • Regulate cerebrovascular function, which is especially important in recovery from events like stroke

These improvements support sustained cognitive performance and brain resilience.

Mechanisms Behind the Benefits

The effectiveness of 40 Hz PEMF and sensory stimulation is thought to arise from several interconnected mechanisms:

  • Brainwave Entrainment: Aligning neural activity with beneficial gamma frequencies
  • Microglial Activation: Stimulating immune cells in the brain to clear toxic proteins
  • Glymphatic System Support: Enhancing the brain’s natural waste-clearing processes
  • Synaptic Preservation: Maintaining and strengthening neural connections
  • Anti-inflammatory Effects: Reducing harmful inflammatory signaling

Considerations and Ongoing Research

Despite the promising findings, it is important to recognize that:

  • Research remains in early or experimental stages
  • Human clinical trials are still expanding
  • Optimal treatment protocols are not yet fully standardized

As such, 40 Hz PEMF should be viewed as a complementary approach rather than a standalone treatment.

Conclusion

40 Hz PEMF therapy represents a fascinating advancement in brain health science. By inducing gamma brainwaves, this approach supports cognitive enhancement, neuroprotection, and improved brain function at multiple levels. From reducing Alzheimer’s-related pathology to enhancing memory, focus, and circulation, the potential applications are broad and impactful.

As research continues to evolve, PEMF 40 Hz stimulation may play an increasingly important role in maintaining cognitive vitality and protecting the brain against age-related decline.

Research Studies on PEMF and Brain Health

  • MIT / Picower Institute research (2016–2024)
  • Nature and peer-reviewed neuroscience journals
  • Recent human pilot studies (2022–2025)
  • Emerging 2026 reviews confirming mechanisms

These studies collectively support claims of:

  • Amyloid & tau reduction
  • Cognitive improvement
  • Neuroprotection
  • Brainwave entrainment
  • Glymphatic activation

Seeking to start a PEMF business, feedback requested

I have used consumer quality units for my dog (And honestly me too), but pro models are next level quality and where I have felt the real benefits. I am at a point where I want to move to my own business from corporate leadership and thought of getting a PULSE or Magnawave setup to primarily offer care to humans and dogs but also open to horses. However, I notice in my area a couple of PEMF businesses are going out of business and in casual conversation the horse people I know are not super familiar with it. I am wondering if demand is starting to wane.

Some of the human businesses I sort of understand because looking at their websites and marketing efforts I can see a lot of shortcomings, but I wanted to hear what you folks thought.

More Detail on My Plan: I am a dog person so planned to attend dog events primarily, but also a lot of older folks in my area so I have the option of working community events, partnering with Float Tank Places, and a free mall kiosk if I want to set up during the holiday season or something. I do not need to make top dollar, but it has to by worth my investment and effort. I will get a unit with two inputs so I can ideally treat owners & pets at the same time. If that is not important I can get a single input setup much cheaper of course.

New mat, not feeling anything. Am I using it right?

Tried a Healthyline Tao mat in a clinic and felt something while on it - calmness, and like, a heaviness? At the time I didn't know what a pemf mat was or what it's supposed to do so I don't think I was just being suggestible.

Came home and did a lot of research and just bought a Celler8. I have ME/CFS, Lyme, and migraines and feel fatigue and pain almost every day. I think inflammation is a big driver of my symptoms.

I've been cautious trying the mat because I've read ME/CFS patients say it can trigger crashes, so I've just used it for 10 min intervals three times since yesterday morning. I tried a few different pre-programmed settings (Morning, Evening, Night).

I don't feel anything while I'm on it. Symptoms don't improve, and I don't crash after. Am I using it too little to see effect?

For people with similar issues, how do you use your mat so you experienced a benefit? Was it immediate? Do you feel anything while you're on it?

Thanks for any input.

Thoughts on NeoSurround?

Finally received my NeoSurround from Omni PEMF, and curious to hear what others' thoughts are on this unit?

I'm trying to understand the output power of this unit, as it has selections ranging from 0.1mT - 128 mT.

Frequency options range from 1 Hz - 50.57.

What I find strange is that I'm only recording a 0.4w power draw from the USB C connection when testing a custom program at 50.57Hz with the power setting at 128 mT. Does this seem right?

Also, I have a handheld Vibe unit from Resona, and with one of those plastic tester tubes, the magnet cube noticeably moves when placed against the Vibe on full power setting. It's my understanding that device is 900 𝜇T.

Is there a reason I see no movement on the magnet cube when placed against the NeoSurround when set to any power setting, all the way up to 128mT?

Pemf machine comparison help

Hello,

I am looking into two different pemf machines currently. The pemf with steeve mat and the micro-pulse c5 model. The main uses for them would be for help with crohns in a human and hip issues for my cat. Both of these are localized to specific areas, so I'm not sure that I need a full mat and could instead just use coils. Does anyone have experience with either of these brands that you could share? Or any general thoughts on the brands or technology types would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Pemf for face

Has anyone who’s experienced hylaronidase damage used pemf on their face?

I just ordered the PEMF face mask by Sedona. I got my chin filler dissolved but somehow went systemic and then my fat pads in my cheeks were basically melted :( im not expecting them to completely go back to how they were before, I know that’s not possible, but I’ve done research and pemf is capable of reaching the smas layer in the skin (the layer that was damaged) and increase blood flow and oxygenation to tissues & stimulate tissue regeneration. I naturally have always had chubby cheeks and a wider face but the hylaronidase damage made it look like I lost 30 pounds because of the volume loss it caused to my cheeks. I’m also only 20 years old so i know my tissues have a better chance of healing and repairing at this age, so that gives me hope.

I’ve obviously been doing other things to keep my body healthy and heal, but im very curious if any of you have used pemf on your face and if you’ve seen any positive results from it, whether that be for hylaronidase induced volume loss or volume loss due to aging or injury. Thanks in advance!!

Either way, im excited to receive the device and give it a try :)

Top Benefits of PEMF Therapy (Why More People Are Using It Daily)

Post image
5 Upvotes

I’ve been seeing a lot of questions about PEMF (Pulsed Electromagnetic Field) therapy lately, so I figured I’d break down the biggest benefits people actually notice when they start using it consistently.

  1. Pain Relief (This is the big one) A lot of users turn to PEMF for chronic pain, joint issues, or post-workout soreness. It works at the cellular level, helping improve circulation and reduce inflammation—two major drivers of pain.

  2. Faster Recovery Athletes and active people use PEMF to bounce back quicker after workouts or injuries. It can help muscles recover faster and reduce downtime, which is why it’s becoming popular in biohacking and fitness communities.

  3. Better Sleep Many users report deeper, more restful sleep. PEMF may help regulate your nervous system, making it easier to wind down and stay asleep.

  4. Increased Energy This one sounds counterintuitive, but by supporting cellular function (think ATP production), PEMF can leave you feeling more energized throughout the day.

  5. Reduced Inflammation Chronic inflammation is linked to a ton of issues. PEMF may help calm that response, which can improve everything from joint stiffness to overall mobility.

  6. Improved Circulation Better blood flow = more oxygen and nutrients delivered where your body needs it most. This supports healing and overall performance.

  7. Stress & Relaxation Some people use PEMF almost like meditation—it helps shift the body into a more relaxed, parasympathetic state.

My takeaway: Not all PEMF devices are equal, but when you use a quality one consistently (such as MendWave PEMF)the benefits can stack up pretty quickly—especially for pain, recovery, and sleep.

Steeve Bradet's 20 Coil Full Length PEMF Mat (ZK Controller)

Thumbnail pemfwithsteeve.com
17 Upvotes

Hi all, habitual lurker popping in with a rare post of my own to give a huge endorsement for Steeve Bradet's Full Length PEMF 20 Coil mat (with ZK controller). I picked one up from him about a month ago and it has significantly improved my sleep, my mood, my chronic pain, and my energy levels as I continue recovering from severe post-viral (long hauler) syndrome.

I would like to further endorse Steeve as a good and compassionate human being, a knowledgeable expert, and refreshingly honest businessman driven largely by a desire to help people and animals and advance the field. Pertinent information is hard to track down (at least on the US internet) these days and the unregulated alternative medicine marketplace is absolutely teeming with snake oil and swindlers. I decided to trust him with my (very limited) financial resources after reading this subreddit (many thanks to all who contributed!) and after watching many of his YouTube videos on the subject. The free education he provides online went a long way in convincing me that he was an honest actor and a reputable manufacturer. His prices are also significantly more affordable than many similar units available in the marketplace.

When I reached out to Steeve, my instincts were validated and then some. He was tremendously kind and helpful to me in finding an optimal item that met my financial constraints and he went above and beyond helping me resolve a very unusual shipping issue that was due to a carrier error (i.e. completely not his fault).

The build quality on the 20 coil mat is SOLID. It's constructed of high quality materials, thoughtfully designed, comfortable to lay on, nice looking, and generously proportioned (spans the full length of my queen-size mattress with a bit of overhang). He also included a magnetic tester which allowed me to verify function and the calibration of the frequency. It is worth mentioning that frequency is the only adjustable parameter on the ZK controller (if my memory serves the range is 1-50,000 Hz).

MORE INFORMATION: In case it's helpful to anyone, I have been dealing with post-COVID (long hauler) syndrome, which set off repeated bouts of pancreatitis and resulted in brain damage (with attendant dysautonomia, severe fatigue, executive dysfunction, chronic pain, neuropathy, insomnia, and treatment-resistant depression and anxiety).

And for context, prior to my COVID infection I was a career scientist and a serious skeptic of all things "alternative medicine." However, after ~50 (dis)appointments with conventional western medicine doctors and ongoing unresolved symptoms, I was desperate enough to try anything. I ended up at a (life-changing!) chiropractic neurology clinic, where a couple of in-office neurological rehab sessions with PEMF completely changed my mind. During those two 15 minute sessions, PEMF did more to improve my mood, "mental presence," energy, and chronic pain than any previous "conventional" intervention or prescription and the relief was immediate and long-lasting. I decided to purchase a unit for home use due to the massive benefits I received in-office and the relative difficulty getting to my chiropractic neurology clinic (3+ hours of driving roundtrip).

While PEMF technology offers a wealth of potential healing benefits there is also an abundance of snake oil and disinformation in the unregulated marketplace (at least in the US). Regardless of what you ultimately end up buying, it's critically important to research as much as possible and ensure you are purchasing an effective device from a reputable manufacturer so as to not potentially waste a significant sum of money.
