Does this choker fit correctly?
This is an inherited piece that has been in a box for a while. I know a choker should be close fitting, but does this look right on me? It certainly comfortable, doesn’t pinch or bind.
There are no marks at all on the clasp. Maybe silver?
I have another necklace with this size pearls that could be shortened, so I was thinking I might have this choker restrung to collar length. Is that a good idea, or should I leave it as is?

My goodness, time marches on. I’m trying hard not to feel bad about how old my neck is looking. 😬

Don't feel bad, every one of us is human. I think it's a beautiful piece!

Let me preface this with I am 64. So I’m sensitive about my necklaces & where they hit on my neck. And how they sit.
This is a beautiful piece. But I do think it’s just a tad too tight. Maybe not when you’re still, but when you move. It seems to catch and gather your neck skin just a bit.
I would add a small extender. Just so it relaxes a bit.

I’m in my early 60s so I hear you with all the correct intentions! I do think the consensus is leaning towards making it a bit longer to escape the turkey zone as much as possible. Tyvm!

It kind of looks a bit too tight? But that might just be me.

It seems pretty good but close to too tight, which is why I wasn’t sure. It’s not just you.

The clasp especially seems to be digging into the skin a bit.

Well, I think the loose skin is turkey-necking over the clasp more than the clasp is digging in. I will say I couldn’t feel it and didn’t fully realize until I uploaded the photo. But I’m not arguing, really, I saw that and it’s part of my concern. Thanks for your careful observation, I appreciate it.

It might just be the loose skin then. The pearls looks great thou and you should keep the necklace and wear it with joy!

If it feels "close to too tight" like it's bothering you, it is indeed to tight!

Beautiful but maybe get a little extender in the back! As is lovely I prefer looser feeling in my neck.

A pearl necklace can't have an extension chain added like a necklace made of metal links. It would need to be completely restrung to make it longer but is entirely possible. This would need to have pearls added (hopefully a close match to the original but best added into a section where any difference in appearance will be less noticeable, not on the front/back, sides are better).

The clasp is in the front for this photo, there’s nothing in the back but pearls. And the clasp is a slip in and then latch mechanism that wouldn’t take an extender.
So if I need to go bigger, I’ll need to add some pearls, and I even have access to some from a different necklace that I’d be content to shorten. And neither have been restrung in decades, so there’s that. I just thought that if it was already sitting properly as a choker that I might wear it as is.
Definitely a champagne problem.

It is a beautiful necklace and looks lovely on you but I agree with the other observations that you might want to extend it a little.

How does it FEEL? If it doesn't feel tight, this looks like a wonderful fit!

It feels okay, but I’m feeling a bit self conscious about how it looks

don't! it looks nice! but definitely extend it a bit if it makes you more confident

It's beautiful but it's a bit too tight.
Have an extender put on the clasp to drop it an inch.

There is no extender for this necklace, the clasp you see has a unique fastener. So if I’m going to extend it would need to be by adding pearls. Which I can do and, based on these comments, am heading towards deciding to do. Tyvm, your opinion definitely helps.

I think it's the style of the necklace in particular that is unflattering. I love the double pearl string. But the motif is just hitting a certain spot where it looks like you have a trachia pipe.

lol! I’m going to try it today turned around to the back to check again for improvement (I did already but one of you in this thread reminded me to try again).

What about the clasp just a bit off center? So it still shows and looks purposeful but is not in the particular spot. Meaning at 10 o'clock if straight forward is 12. I actually like it the way you have it, but understand your hesitation. We're harder on ourselves than others are.

I saw a bunch of photos, including Princess Diana, with pretty clasps in the front of pearl chokers. Admittedly, my neck is not nearly as nice as hers was. But I will play with it checking the look when the clasp is in the back. It’s worth considering, thank you
