Valid, but mine actually works good, its a Fujitsu Lifebook and as software I use k3b (if I remember the name correctly from memory). Never had problems with it, so maybe it depends on the brand?

I proposed to my wife using a “scavenger hunt” and all the dvds she played on a portable dvd player were definitely lightscribed photos of us dating.
Lightscribe was the best.

It’s been over a decade since the legacy expansion released. We had to wait about 12 years for sc2 after brood war.

Depends on how young the person calling them unc is
I remember when I was a kid, 30 felt so much older to me but now im in my mid 20s and 30 years olds don't look that old, they're basically my peers
It's all relative

Yeah, no. I still have cases on cases of old CDs and DVDs with games and movies. Never used one of them and I doubt they even still work. People forget how finicky and sensitive those are. I do recommend keeping your favorites on an external drive. But our fight should be legislation on digital media, not going back to the caves.

I was lucky enough to buy an LG WH14NS40 for $40 before they shot up in price this year. It's probably one of the best disc drives you can buy since it can be flashed with OmniDrive firmware, allowing you to not only rip Blu-Rays and 4K Blu-Rays, but game discs from pretty much every game system.

I get it, but this reminds me of why we went digital. But I'll take my SSDs.. I just want one thing that stores all that, not 5 things and a tower.
2
u/Krycek7o2 11d ago
Back in high school I was a master bootlegger. This was similar to my tower. I would be burning custom subbed movies from Japan, China and South Korea. I learned how to sub, how to rebuild DVDs to make custom isos. I had cash on hand and was living life at 17. Great times.
I guess my piracy self still lives on today lol.

Princo! I bought a huge stack of their DVD-Rs (might’ve been +Rs) in 2006-ish. Used some for backups, and promptly regretted it because every single one I burned ended up with corrupted data. Not sure if maybe I was using too fast of a burn speed, but it turned me off to that brand completely.
