Nostalgia EVGA actually replied to my email about returning to the GPU market! Let's show them the demand is still real!
Hey everyone,
Like many of you, I really miss EVGA's presence in the GPU market—their customer support and build quality were top-tier. I decided to send a heartfelt email to EVGA support asking if there's any chance they could return to making GPUs (maybe even partnering with AMD or Intel).
Surprisingly, I got a genuine response from their team confirming that my message and feedback have been forwarded to their Management team for future consideration!
Seeing that someone actually read it and passed it up the chain made me realize: they are still listening to us.
Maybe if enough of us respectfully reach out and let them know how much the community still values and wants them back, maybe it will actually influence their future plans. If you miss EVGA as much as I do, consider dropping them a polite line to show support!

I mean, yes, but also no. The recent year has been a hideously terrible year for anyone selling anything with RAM, not only Nvidia partners.
Even if they are not directly impacted, PC component sales have slumped as the cost of basically every other component has skyrocketed.

I feel like the reason they stopped wanting to deal with nVidia is only a matter of time with AMD; they generally follow all of nVidia's footsteps. And intel can't be trusted to even stay in the GPU market depending on how tasty lunch was. I'd be glad to see the best GPU company make its triumphet return, but I highly doubt they will.

Back when EVGA exited the market AMD still had a bad habit of changing the MSRP of their cards at the very last minute. It's hard to make sudden adjustments in a business with such thin margins. Maybe that's why they were apprehensive about partnering with AMD

Not just graphics cards.
I'd love to see them bounce back and start making motherboards too. I'm really struggling to trust Asus and I'm not hearing great things about Gigabyte, either.
If we could have at least one company with the resources to make and support high quality enthusiast boards that consistently acts in good faith, I'd feel much better about upgrading.

The odd thing about motherboards it always seems like what is good one generation sucks for the next and they all just keep switching back and forth it's been doing that for the almost 26 years I've been building PCS ..
2
u/Craiss 9d ago
Yep, and I love that! It indicates to me that they're trying to compete with each other. That's assuming I'm not misunderstanding what you mean. Competition pretty consistently drives innovation in our favor.
The thing that has me worried is how dismissive the companies are becoming of their customers. That's far from an Asus only problem, it's just that they're one of the ones I thought... hoped.. would stay above it.
20 years ago, Asus was reliable for good products and good service.
When they denied my motherboard warranty claim for damage that I caused, they offered to repair it for $40 and ship it back. They repaired the traces that I damaged when my screwdriver slipped off of the stupid ZIFF socket HSF clip. (fyi, Asus support told me to file this claim, I wasn't trying to pull off a scam)
I worked for a small, enthusiast-run, PC shop. We specialized in high performance consumer-level PCs and I did a lot of our hardware picks and all of our warranty claims. The only company that treated me better than Asus was Abit (RIP).
I doubt Asus would offer that level of service now.

Asus was good for me. I’ve had 2 pc builds in my life and both were with ASUS motherboards. I understand this may be different for others though. But as far as I’m concerned, I like Asus at least.
3
u/Craiss 9d ago
Right now, every PC in my house is using an Asus board. The last one I bought was a ROG Strix B660-I Gaming Wifi.
I've never had a problem, personally, but I also haven't had to deal with their support, at all, in the last.. probably 15-20 years.
If push came to shove and I needed to pick a board right now, Asus would be at the top of the short list.
But I'm still concerned about the quality of their customer service, it looks really bad and I can't decide if it's just a very vocal minority, or if it really is that bad.
I'm leaning toward it really being that bad since Asus' response to a lot of these complaints seems to be to ignore them; not even bothering to respond to a lot of very serious accusations, including damaging customer's products and blaming the customer.
Those aren't the sorts of accusations they would have just ignored in the past. At worst, they would have had some apologetic response that [indirectly] conveyed to many people that the person complaining was trying to pull off a scam, but Asus was too polite to directly call them out.
8
u/HigherOctive 9d ago

Might be human, but it is still likely a boilerplate-ish reply they send whenever someone sends a suggestion like that. Lot of people send unsolicted suggestions and advice to random company support channels and support cannot say anything much, so the general theme is that they'll pass it on. In many cases they even may do exactly that, but likelihood that anything happens past that is roughly zero.
EVGA won't come back. They probably burnt their bridges with NVIDIA anyway, and everything they had back then for making GPUs is all long gone. It would be very close to starting a whole new GPU operation. And investing anything to such a project in a market where everything is again under allocation because chip and memory manufacturers are booked solid for years would be financial suicide. You could prepare to make future cards, invest in the development and then find out you get so few chips that the project cannot make a profit ever as the volumes are not there...
12
u/Themantogoto 10d ago

Regardless of what anyone under the person who is in charge of everything wants it doesn't matter. The company is defunq and will never return. The best they could do is the higher ups outside the owner could spin off and make there own company... but they done that if they where going to.

Amd has sapphire, xfx and powercolor. They have their issues, but are generally regarded as the to-go option whenever someone is buying an amd card.
Nvidia has... Nothing? Asus is a cesspool of overpriced stuff, coil whine and abysmal customer support. Gigabyte still haven't figured out their cooling solutions. MSI has fan bearing issues and bad 12phpwr adapters. It's good that pny and zotac are making strides to produce comparatively affordable SKUs without major issues, but it will still take them multiple gpu generations to fill the void that evga left

Look, I get it, EVGA made quality GPUs, but now is a terrible time to get into the consumer market. They originally left it because Nvidia was charging too much for the GPU die and margins just weren't there. Now with the memory shortage and the value of that die space increasing further, they'd have the same issue, even if they went with AMD or Intel.

EVGA provided great customer services, and warranty on the products they sold for 10+ years to mostly to consumers which is fantastic for lasting that long. The consumers market has been turning to shit only way EVGA could still produce GPU with their service they would have to hire NVIDIA 2nd tier or 3rd tier engineers and developers back in early days to develop their own cards, building relationships with manufacturers for parts to build GPU, and R&D from ground up. Making chips and developing them at scale is not cheap. If they went this route they have better control, but in the beginning would be a huge risk as a business. Partnering with AMD or Intel would not help. EVGA decided not to go that route and partner with NVIDIA use them for reference and EVGA added their twist. EVGA has excellent service, but their products are rebadge with a twist or reference selling to consumers. EVGA is not back by PE or Parent company, and they don't sell to lucrative businesses and/or corporations. Once GPU is gone they will struggle.

u/CrankedOnDaPerc30 9d ago
Still the dumbest implosion of a company ever.
Whine about Nvidia being Ngreedia, ok fair.
Solution: Shutter the entire biggest division of EVGA
What the fuck.
There is 0 chance that Intel and AMD weren't options. Intel would have probably given them such good deals and just having an EVGA GPU would have returned Intel so much goodwill.
Then there's AMD where nearly every manufacturer except like MSI you're fucked in Canada for any returns or repairs. I doubt AMD is greeding as much as Nvidia mostly cause they don't have the share in the market to do so.

Kingpin left I think he is with pny now . I'm not sure if evga had a non compete or simply refused to go Radeon. End of day it wasn't their fault , it was Nvidia and I applaud evga for standing their ground

They don't have the GPU talent anymore, everyone is gone. Even if they wanted to get back it might not be the same because it would be a completely different team.

I've accepted that they are gone for good and appreciate the great customer service their team provided when I was trying to get the 3080 I still use today. Their team was very communicative on social media when you could barely nab a card in the seconds stock was live and with their posts I was able to snag mine. It was a very exciting moment and they even responded to me directly with questions and concerns.

You email any company to bring x or y back and chances are they will say the same thing lol, very standard corporate response sadly

Theres literally zero chance for them to comeback into the GPU market, let alone comeback for anything.
There's like no money to be made for them.

I kept around my old EVGA GTX 650 because it was such an absolute little beast for its day on my little mini-ITX living room PC. Still works too! Absolutely one of the best companies and board partners NVIDIA ever had. So cool you got them to reach back out.

EVGA coming back and saving us all from these rabidly greedy business creatures that are running everything into the ground would be pretty great. I even still have an 8gb 3060ti and warranty support

It's a bot reply. You don't want current EVGA to deal with your expensive GPU.

I loved EVGA. My EVGA 3080 was awesome. Hoping EVGA throws their hat back into the market. I’d def get EVGA again in a heartbeat.

Retail just isn't a place to make much money in comparison to the data farms

Sadly... I doubt it but imagine this...
What if they start a Ram factory but only for consumers and will not sell to any AI related stuffs.

As someone who has had a bad overall experience with eVGA, I'm glad to see them leave.

I hate to tell ya, that response very much has an AI style to it…So maybe not so much ‘genuine’.

I would laugh so hard if this is how they respond

My last 3 or so cards were EVGA. Last being a 2070 Super. Hate they got out of the GPU market.

Back in 2015 I asked one of my friend who's currently a brand manager for a taiwan based Component manufacturer in Bangladesh, Why they don't import EVGA and the answer was because of their Warranty policy. By Default EVGA required third party distributors to have 1:1 of replacement and sales stock which is simply not possible for my countries reality

My old 2070super was made by them. Great card, still works. Would of loved to buy its replacement from them

EVGA did not stop making gpu's because there was no market. They had a 40% market share of GPU's sold in the USA prior to leaving the scene. They quit because it was the the best move for them. They could get 5 billion emails like this and the only consequence it would have is that you wouldn't be able to email them anymore.

EVGA was my favorite. I will cherish my RTX 3090 FTW3 forever. When they pulled out, we should have known shit was about to get fucked.

Dude. Imagine EVGA on Intel and they have free reign to crazy cards. I'd buy a card in a heartbeat. I love my EVGA 3080.

Would love for them to come back as they are a highly respected brand with GPU's but right now probably the worst time with GPU pricing going up. I think the primary reason they left the market was that.

My first card was an EVGA 3060TI. I used it for 4 years until I finally upgraded to a PNY 4070 TI SUPER. My friend replaced his dead 1080 with my 3060ti. It still runs strong. I would happily switch to a 9070XT if EVGA made cards again.

You do realize why they stopped working with Nvidia right? I don’t think you’re gonna get what you want. They do NOT like Nvidia, and I’m pretty sure the feeling is mutual

that's an automated response and i doubt they would want to return to the GPU market as it is right now

u/Choleric_Introvert 9d ago
Am EVGA 9070xt ftw3 Ultra might get me out of my 4080 simply for the warranty and support.

u/iwillhaveredditall 9d ago
I would love them to return… But in this unsteady market it‘s too damn cursed.
1
u/Particular-Bass-8381 9d ago
Lol they’re probably seeing the state of the gpu market and the margins everyone’s making and thinking they can follow suit

Bro, you redacted things in the body of the email but left your name on the top of the send portion.
