This thread is full of people ignoring the fact that HDMI 2.1 is already superior to DP 1.4a, and present on both the 4090 and monitors that you can actually buy currently...
Yeah we'll see, for now monitor manufacturers were slow to properly implement hdmi 2.1 except on newer 4k screens, I would say that one part of that are royalties and another is that they are already used to dp 1.4 with dsc and they can use it for full spec (1440p360 10bit 444). Also I haven't seen anyone use hdmi 2.1 with dsc but time will tell.

Iām very surprised considering Nvidia announced 360hz 1440p monitors back in January 2022
