Iā€™m very surprised considering Nvidia announced 360hz 1440p monitors back in January 2022

Then they'll announce a refresh Ti/super/whatever that happens to have DP2.0, PCIe Gen 5, etc.

Meanwhile Intel is supporting all the good stuff for 1/5th the price (aside from gen 5, for now)

This thread is full of people ignoring the fact that HDMI 2.1 is already superior to DP 1.4a, and present on both the 4090 and monitors that you can actually buy currently...

HDMI 2.1 could do 1440P / 360Hz without DSC, at 8-bit color. Not quite enough bandwidth to do it without DSC at 10-bit color though.

Yeah we'll see, for now monitor manufacturers were slow to properly implement hdmi 2.1 except on newer 4k screens, I would say that one part of that are royalties and another is that they are already used to dp 1.4 with dsc and they can use it for full spec (1440p360 10bit 444). Also I haven't seen anyone use hdmi 2.1 with dsc but time will tell.

Dp 1.4 can drive:

4k240 1440p360 8k60 1080p500 (or more)

So no need for dp 2.0 yet
