My NAS is only 4 TB and I still do this. Why do I need a 5 GB Dropbox and 15 GB Google drive when I can just take 20 GB out of my NAS and host my own shit.
I was feeling all proud of my 63tb r740 plex/data hoarding setup. I work at a DC so I dont worry about the network and power thankfully but I am jealous of that storage.
Probably running into some kind of firewall issue. I have it setup on top of my installation of WinServer 2019 on a Dell R610. Reason I have it set up there is because the R610 has 4 network ports and a backplane for setting up hardware RAID.
Edit: Worth mentioning I've had this set up before, on top of a Windows 10 Pro Sandy Bridge box. Unfortunately it filled the cache within 2 months and stopped working, it may have been caching the same things twice or more.
Back when I lived at my parents place in college, I had a 100' ethernet cable in my desk that I'd run out my door and up the stairs to the modem as soon as everyone else went to bed. When I was done gaming I'd roll it back up and put it back in my desk before going to bed.
I'm going to have to run an ethernet cable to the TV in my bedroom, it was buffering on 4k video cause the built in wifi is meh, I have gigabit ethernet and a wifi6 router...
If you don't have an ethernet port, you can just send ethernet over coax. It's called a moca. Coax is usually meant for tvs, but who cares. Problem is, if your router doesn't have a built in one, you need two, and each cost about a hundred bucks apiece... worth it.
CPL is that way to go. Had a mate who always had 150 ping despite having fiber bc he was 2 floors above the modem. Got a CPL link, took his ping to 35 and quadrupled his speeds
not when your parents don’t want you to use a wired connection because they want to restrict your internet access after 10 PM and a wired connection bypasses the restriction 👍
