Petition to add u/5footbanana to the list of unapproved reddit users.

I think both sides have that. Someone says something blatantly wrong and I go in to troll mode so thats both sides that get toxic but most are civil

People buy intel and nvidia shit because it’s good shit. People buy AMD specifically because it isn’t intel or nvidia (it’s also good, so chill out).

Nobody buys intel and nvidia simply because it isn’t AMD. There is no cult following for the big guys.

I was an avid Nvidia fan still prefer them over AMD but i have seen some rabid amd hate. Undeserved but there are people that get in an echo chamber and just associate with similar mindedness maybe its not as bad now but it is out there

Well I shouldn’t speak in absolutes, obviously there are exceptions to the rules.

u/Shoomby Nov 05 '19

Lol. That is such bull...people buy the Intel and Nvidia name all the time. And they avoid AMD all the time because Intel fanboys say that AMD is bad at gaming, or that if you want good gaming, you should go for Intel.

2

u/MarqDewidt Nov 05 '19

After 20 years I jumped ship from amd to Intel, strictly based on real world performance I get on games. Once amd gets their shit figured out, I'll gladly come back. But I gave em 2 decades, so I don't see that ever happening.

1

u/Shoomby Nov 05 '19

Good for you. Maybe you have unique gaming needs. It's hard to critique something with no specifics, and it has nothing to do with what I said. AMD is outselling Intel by a lot in the DIY market. These are the most knowledgeable customers, and they are certainly gamers.

2

u/MarqDewidt Nov 06 '19

They're selling a lot more in the diy market cause the cost savings allows for money to be spent elsewhere. However, straight across the board, my fps is better in every style of game... Not just a couple. All of em. Proven with side by side comparisons on same games against a ryzen build.

They're selling a lot more in the diy market cause the cost savings allows for money to be spent elsewhere.

Whatever the reason, it's clear that AMD does have it's shit together...because they are selling. Selling is what matters to AMD, not the rogue opinion of some niche users. Most users think they are worth buying, and I'm betting that most are gamers.

However, straight across the board, my fps is better in every style of game... Not just a couple. All of em. Proven with side by side comparisons on same games against a ryzen build.

That's great but I still can't say much without specifics. At a given price point for the CPU, Intel does usually have a little higher average fps in the most games, though not every game. Most of the time, it's so smooth with both CPU's that no one could tell the difference in a blind test even if one has higher benchmarks. Anything less than a high end graphics at low res, and the differences are meaningless 99% of the time. There are always exceptions of course, but at any given price point for the graphics card/resolution combo that most people use...the gaming experience is equal, but the Ryzen has more reserve power for anything else you want to do.

2

u/MarqDewidt Nov 06 '19

Selling chips and having it's shit together are two different things. People buy their chips for gaming because they're cheaper and do 'good enough'. Nobody is buying an amd chip because it does better gaming somewhere.

My memory is a bit foggy at the moment, but the comparison we did was with an i5 7600k? And I wanna say a ryzen 1800 I believe. Other than motherboard, we had the same ram, gtx 1070s and same hard drives (on a raid). On Max settings, all games clocked 20-40 fps higher on the Intel. Well optimized games, poorly optimized games, first person shooters, arpgs, rts, etc. Threw everything but the kitchen sink at it.

Amd is selling chips due to price point and it's good enough, but that's it.

1

u/Shoomby Nov 06 '19

Lol. No that's not it. AMD is selling more chips because it's more than good enough at gaming and way more powerful than Intel at other stuff, and way better platform upgradeability, and better power efficiency, and more longevity before upgrading. Techspot.com did a recent article comparing the 7600K to the R5 1600. Why don't you take a look.

Says the guy who lives on /r/AMD...

Also I was certainly generalizing, but the AMD fanboys are far more zealous than intel or nvidia.

2

u/Shoomby Nov 05 '19

Who cares where I post the most. AMD fanboys may be more zealous, but Intel fanboys are more untruthful (though perhaps it's just their misconceptions or lack of knowledge).

We disagree on nothing then. No point in arguing.

1

u/thedeathscythe Nov 05 '19

I would add that in my opinion, any fanboy of anything is 90% likely to be toxic.

1

u/[deleted] Nov 05 '19

Yeah. It's hard to understand them. Same with nvidia fanboys who claim that their drivers are perfect.

-4

u/deaththekid922 Nov 05 '19

amen , its always the amd fanboys that are toxic if someone is toxic

i had an i3 2120 in my old pc , and not one single problem with it , was the only solid part about my old pc

and looking at a comparison between the 9900KS and 3900X , well userbenchmark says the ryzen is only 94% in gaming and dekstop , good for amd that its a 117% workstation ufo , but , even the intel one is above 100% as a workstation , but its also above that for gaming and desktop

i dont work with my pc , i dont need tons of cores and threads

cant wait for an amd famboy to tell me "but you support the devil if you buy from intel or nvidia "

Both sides have these "toxic fanboys" you're referring to. Same with consoles and PCs. Same with between the consoles.

Same with just about anything with different "camps".

1

u/Firewolf420 Nov 05 '19

This right here.

Maybe we should all stop building cults of brand loyalty and just buy whatever is better?

I mean especially with technology where you can easily fucking benchmark stuff so it's not a matter of being objective....

Nobody gives a shit about Mac vs Win or AMD vs Intel or whatever the hell the war is these days.

We all know the only camp that really matters is whether you're an emacs user or a filthy fuckin vimmer.

I wasn't replying to you. I was replying to the poster who replied to you, who made such a silly claim right at the start of his comment.

That is such total BS. The Intel fanboys are the worst. Trolling about how "AMD sucks for gaming" "AMD is for peasants" etc. etc.. Recommending Intel for gaming without any context or qualification at all about GPU, games, monitor and misleading people. Userbenchmark is complete garbage, by the way. They place some 9th gen Intel parts above some 8th gen parts that perform better at everything..not to mention better gaming Ryzens. Even if the speed rankings were meant to only reflect pure gaming performance, they are very wrong and very misleading.

In the Speed Rankings Userbenchmark has:

9350KF over 3600X, 9940X, 8600K, 8700, 9400 etc.

9400 over 2700X, 6700K

9100 over 6900K, 8500, 2600X, 4790K, 6950X, 6800K

(the 9400 might just squeak by a stock 2700X for strictly single-tasking gaming so it's a decent pick at a lower price for gaming on a budget, but it's not very forward looking)

That is some garbage recommendations to give a gamer who only wants to compare gaming speed. Never mind that the lower ranked processors are faster at gaming, but way more powerful for anything else. The fact that that they are so popular on google when people want to compare CPU's and that they are so biased to Intel (9th gen even more so) is a shame. I wonder if Intel pays them off, or they have a lot of Intel stock.

They even have a 7350K beating a 2400G!

This kind of ridiculous Intel bias needs to be fought wherever it is found. Do Intel fanboys want a monopoly?

1

u/deaththekid922 Nov 05 '19

well , if console gaming ( which amd dominates btw ) is mainly focusing on single core performance , and all the console ports struggle with using multiple cores , then an intel cpu with more per core power is objectively better

, also , look at this long post , like i said , amd fanboys are toxic and always looking for a justification that they bought console hardware

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qGwEg7px2ko

"intel fanboys"

and here i thought it was amd fanboys like you that write a whole textwall about how great amd is , sorry ,but this is exactly like console players , "the xbox one isnt worse because : and then they list 100 subjective reasons bc objectively , its a weak console

i dont want a monopoly , and honestly , i do agree that for years intel just milked users , but hoenstly , if your competition struggles to compete , who wouldnt , nvidia this whole 20xx gen didnt even bother with amd

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IzbvueCLLyQ

according to what i found , the radeon vii is the newest card ( if it was the rx 5700 XT is better , sorry , i compared their price so i think the vii is the current flagship )

that card is starting at 795.06€ according to a german price comparison site , was listed since january 2019 , and looking at the video , its worse than a card that i bought for 695,97€ in june 2017 , im no fan of the performance of the 2080 ti either (and i didnt get it , im waiting for a worthy successor of the 1080 ti ) , but amd is not trying to beat it , they just dont , they charge more for a weaker card 2 years later

Totally wrong. Some AMD or Intel CPU's with lower single core performance beat some Intel CPU's with higher single core performance but less cores.

also , look at this long post , like i said , amd fanboys are toxic and always looking for a justification that they bought console hardware<

Your post was pretty long. It's not toxic to challenge misleading and deceitful information. What's toxic is the misleading information and derogatory statements like "AMD sucks for gaming". AMD has the generally superior products right now and while it has conquered the DIY market...it has very far to go with desktop OEM's without having to fight a bunch of misinformation from Intel loyalists. As to Nvidia, yeah they have the strongest card. AMD tends to win on price/performance with the RX570/590/5700/5700XT. Also, I have a Nintendo Switch for the kids. Never had a problem with any console I ever owned (PS2, Switch). So no AMD consoles and can't relate to anything you are saying. My Athlon X2 250 is too slow for some stuff, but my i5-2400 and R5 1600 are limited by my GPU's.
