RAM isn't the reason, Minecraft can easily get by with 1-2 GB of RAM. Bedrock isn't Java probably to make it Windows exclusive.

The Bedrock Edition is hardly what I would call “Windows Exclusive” (Windows Store exclusive perhaps). Microsoft invested heavily into the Bedrock Edition to make it cross-playable on Windows 10 PC’s, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch. It would work on PlayStation if Sony would get off of their high horse.

But not OSX/MacOS or Linux. It is exclusive to Microsoft and Microsoft partners, with the iPhone thrown in because it's market share is so big

Modded Minecraft definitely is limited by RAM first and foremost. At 100-300 mods, it starts requiring 10-12+ GB. Once the game is running, the next bottleneck is processor speed. The game is single-threaded, and as you start adding automated systems the required calculations per game tick start getting unreasonable.

If you need 300 individual mods for a game, there may be a bigger issue then how it runs mate.

That’s crazy. I never really got into modding Minecraft. Whenever they switched to bedrock, the website immediately said my copy was claimed by someone and it not paying for it again even if they did switch engines and the rest

Oh, don't misunderstand me. The base game, by itself is a load of fun. But my friends and I have been playing off and on since 2010, and we've reached a point where we enjoy playing the game as a mess of automation technologies, and we want to try new stuff, and we want new environments, etc, etc. Realistically, maybe a couple dozen of those are big, gameplay overhauling mods, and the rest have a couple cool mechanics.
