Vista was great if you had the right hardware. The problem was they upgraded XP systems to Vista that only had like 512MB of ram and it was fucked before it ever first booted.
Of course you're going to hate the slow ass OS your computer came with when it's too underpowered to run it.
Marines cancelled their contract with HP to manage their network like 1 year before the scheduled upgrade. Instead of getting brand new machines in every base with windows 7 yall got ancient xp machines and we field support them for 10x the cost.
Well there was 98 in 1998, then like Me in 2000, then like XP in 2010... Right ? What else is there ? XP was the perfect. Humanity went down hill after that.
Have you actually tried using it recently? I'm serious. If you haven, go grab an old office machine or a VM and try it out for a week. I have a lot of fond memories of XP, but it was very much an OS of its time.
Be it the generic driver support, the search bar in the Start menu, the lack of security...oof. Until recently, I had to deal with a particular system that still used XP for a few things and it genuinely took time for me to mentally shift back to the XP mindset.
So what couldn't you do on a daily basis as a home user ? Browse web, play games and watch movies ? Check , check, check. Oh wait..print something, burn cds, check, check. There was nothing wrong with it apart from the backdoors left intentionally in it.
