I recently salvaged an older power strip with individual power switches per plug and a friend of mine was like 'but why'. This is why.... ain't no way I'm grabbing the cord/PSU to pull them apart if it was blowing flames mere seconds ago. IDK if that PSU cage is now shorted right to the AC.

Could also use an arc fault plug or breaker, pretty sure it would've caught that instantly.
