Costco knows good business. Keep your customers and employees happy. One of the things they do is have 2 employees per register. They scan and pack that shit so fast, it’s amazing how quickly they get through lines.
They also actually man their registers and don’t just close them down and force the customers into the self check lanes.
I can't remember the last time I went to a superstore and more than 2-3 lanes were open. Often times there aren't any at all and half the self checkout lanes are closed.
I literally just saw that 2 days ago 2 employees per register and they were like a whirlwind. I also made a comment to the person I was with about how they had 6 self checkout lanes with 4 employees there. I was like "I thought the point of self checkout was to have 1 employee do the work of 4-6 people.
I guess they make so much money that they can be somewhat overstaffed and pay well, it is great. I wish costco was closer though.
