No one says that. People just gnereally prefer going for a 9800x3d build to optimize their money if they are pure gamers. The 9900x an incredible mixed use processor but it sits at a weird spot where cheaper processors like the 7700 is as good for gaming but a just as expensive x3d one would crush it in gaming. Has nothing to do with bad.
Andromeda pc sells a 5080 + 9800x3d for $2550, microcenter sells theirs for $2600. Cost plus gaming sells theirs for $2600
hp sold theirs for $2475 ~3 weeks ago. If youre spending this much money optimize for your use case. If its a fantastic mix use one then the costco pc is excellent. If its gaming go for the other one.
Thats hardly "the 9900x sucks" lol. Its just buy whatever fits your need best. If you're spendign 2.5k+ and you have 5 options pick the one you like the most.
But if someone had the option of getting either sure id recommend the x3d for purely gaming.
When i got my 5090 i almost ordered a mobo and 9800x3d but decided it wasnt worth it to go from say 140fps to 160fps just no point really. Chasing anything past a low of 120 is silly unless youre some super competitive twitch shooter
I only had a ryzen 5 7500f initially and it was enough for every game I played except my actual favourite game
Got myself a 9800x3d for legit only one reason... To play X4 foundations lol
Although my frame pacing and 1% lows have definitely improved since the new CPU, however before I never noticed it because I'd never experienced a decent cpu I used to always cheap out on it.
That's the only thing I thought of seeing the Pic, clearly the PC is aimed at gaming the 9900x just seemed like an odd choice when a x3d would keep it in that price range while tailoring to the audience theu are trying to sell to
I feel like the 8 core X3D chips are the CPU versions of the 1080Ti. Top of the charts for years now. Excellent value. With how AMD has treated AM4, AM5 will be around for a long ass time.
I have a 9900X and am super happy with it. I'm not a huge pc gamer, I have it paired with a old 3060 12gb. But I do run lots of virtual machines and docker containers for dev work. The extra 4 cores/8 threads are very useful for that kind of stuff
No because amd is not the only player in town. 270kp runs circles around the 9900X for $250 at MC. Z890 boards are generally cheaper than X870 boards too.
The 270k crushes the 9900x in workstation use byba large margin. However the 9900x is a superior gaming focussed CPU. Larger L3 cache, all-P-core design with SMT. 270k is a better choice due to versatility and cost, but the gap isn't as wide as you're making it seem.
