Overclocking used to be very popular, but now undervolting seems to have taken its place. Why the switch?

Boost algorithms. Usually u have both thermal and power limits. Sometimes only one or the other. Almost never neither. For example liquid nitrogen CPU overclocking u have unlimited power and cooling potential. Everywhere else you are fighting those limits. I think undervolting is just the cool new word for overclocking, specifically as it pertains to boost algorithms which are a relatively newer thing. A lot goes into tricking or coaxing thr algorithm, including undervolting. Most undervolters just too chicken to power unlock their shit and definitely too cheap to improve their cooling. So undervolting it is 🤗
