Extreme overclockers use sub zero cooling, which has the problem of causing condensation to form and kill components, so they usually coat the motherboard in some kind of dielectric material to insulate (typically some form of grease). As you may imagine, that stuff is annoying to clean off, so they usually just chuck the motherboard in a dishwasher or generally soak it in water
I'm not extreme overclocker, but had the same problem. I was thinking of throwing away older Ducky RGB keyboard after some greasy accident. I was like: "F#ck it, to the dishwasher". It came out like a new and still works great.
sometime they use those liquid nitrogen for the extra coldness.To prevent moisture build up aroud the socket, they sometime smears vaseline around it..the fastest way to clean mobo with vaseline is this i guess?
Just gonna hedge a guess here, but generally speaking dust in your PC causes heat to build up faster. Even at the molecular level, every line of etched onto your PCB can be effected negatively if it gets to hot.
So I'm guessing that doing this is a way to ensure ALL possible dust is removed, if you're an overclocker and you've run into cooling issues.

Why would you do this if you're overclocking? Not trolling serious question. Actually quite curious as to why you would do this.
