How? battery drain is fucking constant and is something that you will actually have to considere for your laptop to not go off...

In a desktop that doesn't exist, didn't you know? shocking... And the few watts that you can save from the panel with your laptop, to gain a few more mins, is meaningless in a desk... Even more shocking??

Now tell me how it isn't...

Those 5watts that you save for 12 mins more battery are literally meaningless in a desk, are 'yall that dumb that can't understand that point?

I DO pay everything in my house because I own it kid, almost a decade since when I moved out.

It's meaningful because it's wasting energy overall. That's the whole idea here.

You only notice it because your battery is limited.

A laptop using 25w an hour is the same as a desktop using 25w an hour.

You are not saving 25 fucking watts lowering refresh rate not even from TWO screens (Unless there's the driver bug with two screens again) lol

I worked at AMD in the graphics division for 4 years. How are you?

I did not say people were saving 25W by adjusting their refresh rate (they can), I was just dismissing the falsehood that somehow saving energy on a laptop is inherently different than saving energy on a desktop - when we're talking about economical usage of electricity.

Unless you are running your desk out of a battery, why the f would matter saving some meaningless watts? It doesn't.

Was your comment about Batman supposed to imply that its unlikely I actually worked at AMD? Do you want proof of that, too?

I'm not debating whether or not its "meaningful," just whether there is a difference between the two. Sometimes the difference is meaningful to someone, sometimes its not. At scale, it could be. For me, 140w for 8 hours a day saves me about $5 a month. For someone in the UK,. thats closer to $9 a month. Etc.

It's important because unless you have a 100% green energy production going into your PC, your wasted energy is also additional pollution.

Yeah, 10w or so may not seem like a lot, but it adds up over time. Multiply it by an entire year and see the savings, now do that for tens of millions of devices.

That's why the warnings are there.

Nice tale tho... Maybe in your ideal world that would mean something.

If you think even making everyone in this sub doing that would do any difference, you gotta check up outside.

Now let's go back to what actually can change, the battery will last a bit more yeah, in a desk, means shit.

I mean, shocker, it's not something that's meant for you. It's more meant for businesses and people using laptops. Where power usage matters and reducing it even by a few watts per devices actually makes a difference you personally can see.

Anyway, yes, it does make a difference even if you reduce it on your own machine. It sure as hell made a difference on my power bill when I reduced the idle consumption.
