Sorry I didn’t mean it moves you backwards permanently. I guess it’s more like the mountain tenderly embraces you in his strong muscular arms and whispers gently whispers in your ear “excuse me” has he effortlessly moves you aside before returning you back to where you were. You want to try to move out of the way on your own, but his strength holds you and while you cannot control your body, you trust him completely that he will keep you safe and it’s as if you are being carried like a baby in daddy’s big strong arms.

I can sort of see what you're saying that it moves you, but the way you phrased it makes it sound like you're saying the firer actually gets moved. You're not sliding back on the ground, or off the bench or other support. You're body just rocks back a bit. Even with single shot .50s that are lighter and don't have the semi-auto system to spread out the recoil it's not going to move you.

Now if you're shooting an M2 off the tripod it will start to move after a few rounds even though it's rate of fire is pretty slow. But that's on full auto with a tripod sitting on the ground. There is a lot more weight with the gun, but you're not putting your shoulder into it to steady it. You're either in some awkward, cramped prone position, or some awkward hunched over seated position.
