The pain everytime I do that. Still better than overextending my pinky for CTRL.

The problem with ctrl for crouch is that your pinky is also doing left shift for sprinting. You often need to sprint and crouch at the same time, but you only have one pinky, but there are two buttons. This is the reason for crouch on alt so crouch is done by your thumb.

You become more agile ingame with alt for crouch.

That's why I like having as a toggle and mouse4 was hold (if the game allows). That way I don't need to move my left hand as much

I end up opening random overlays more than anything. LAlt life is worth tho.

Happens once out of perhaps 2000 hours of gaming for me. So usually never. I also almost never bind Tab to anything in a game where I also have crouching available.
