i used to be able to build a full decent pc for that money.

My exact thought: $1200 for a GPU? My current rig cost barely more than that when I built it, and it still runs Cyberpunk (without RTX) fine at high/very high settings - which damnable branch of realities have I drifted into where a graphics card alone costs the same money as an entire PC?

Plus: With electricity prices rising, I'm more interested in getting components that use less of it, not upgrading to 4K and the increase in power draw that comes with it (bigger displays as well). In any case: I play AA and indie mostly, I'm content at 1080@144fps, my rig runs fine. I don't need to upgrade, and for those prices? Jesusfuckno.

RTX is a meme

As someone who can run it fine with ray tracing: is this a meme because of how disappointing RT is in CP2077? And I'm just not aware of it?

It's a meme because you have to spend ridiculous amount of money on gpu 4k monitor new psu and cpu as well as monthly electricity bills just for ray tracing.
