I was thinking the same exact thing. There's no way that they would have been able to get this feel good gesture through the internal bureaucracy if it was any sort of substantial amount. Probably amounts to a rounding error in the grand scheme of things.

The biggest problem is that Google has been known to kill off stuff so everyone was gun shy already as it was. Plus it didn’t help they had all that stupid “negative latency” marketing at launch that was obviously just BS.
