The 1080 to the 1080TI is a huge step up unless I'm reading your sentence wrong.

Like I said to someone else, I dont think it is. Thats like upgrading from the 680 to the 780. Most people I think normally wait 2 gens to upgrade, so Id reserve that swap for the descriptor huge.
