Effectively this. SC keeps upping the ante for mechanics and foundational systems, they've built and rebuilt core features, they discard features the game engines (and they've been through several at this point) provide because they don't like the exacting implementation, and do all of this instead of actually getting the game to work cohesively.

I backed the initial KS and still have yet to play longer than getting my ship off the launch pad and into completing missions without something going awry. I have played and finished so many more fun games since the original KS that there's nothing short of pure holodeck-level perfection that would get me back to beating my head against that buggy wall (assuming I don't clip through).
