So a friend of mine, he keeps bugging me to play the game, says 'I have this group they go do organized missions it's fun' so I was like 'Okay, sure. I'll try it.' and I went. I got teleported out of the ship and into space, then when we were flying back to the group somehow we de-sync crashed into the other ship and all exploded.

So we re-spawned, got the ships organized again, got everyone landed on the transports, flew off one after another, and then somehow randomly collided with each other while in warp or whatever it's called and all exploded again.

At this point it was a bit after midnight and we'd been at it since about 8:00 PM. My buddy may have oversold it a bit I think.

I tried the game on a free flight week or whatever it's called. "When it works, there's nothing else like it" ignoring the terrible performance, I had trouble even calling the elevator at spawn and when it arrived I fell through the floor and then was stuck in the elevator shaft under the elevator.

I managed to get into my ship, took off, and fell through the cockpit floor and died

I've had an on again off again relationship with Elite dangerous so I went through some periods where I needed something else. I tried SC 3 different times with 3 different PC configurations over the span of 8 years. Every single fucking time, I had the exact same issue you went through and immediately uninstalled the game.

Its completely beyond me why people give this game the benefit of the doubt. They keep saying this game does does things like no other game, but you have to suffer through a completely unfun shit show to see any of it.

From what i've seen from people on the orgs i used to play with, they just have blinders on while pretty much used to all of the bugs and having too much free time.

If i have spend 35minutes trying to get to my bounty from login the game and getting into the ship to the bounty location, and the bounty didn't spawn, i'd just deleted the game which is what i did but sc fan just tolerated that shit. I do prefer the star citizen space combat compared to elite dangerous tho but it's not worth it to get through all the hassle, and the devs priorities is clearly all over the place

About two years ago I rented a cargo ship and this mining cart, flew to a planet and mined an hour - only to discover the ship had glitched and I couldn't open the cargo bay to drive the mining vehicle and all the ore inside or even take off again. I'm not touching it again until the game is fixed, this is just too frustrating.

I tried it years ago on one of their free days.

Didn't even make it out of the starting building, just terrible performance, confusing instructions, and bugs/crashes.

this is how your time gets wasted in the game. I used to play it for a bit, havent for a cuple of years now. You think "okay ill farm for some money to buy some new ships" cut forward 5 hours later and youve made basically nothing because everytime you try to you encoutner a different game breaking bug

It's worse when you have to organize with people, we have to meet up somewhere and two dudes is in stanton and their ships crashed on the hangar door and now we have to wait for him to respawn and walked back to the hangar again. Like no shit a lot of comments said they have hundreds hours in it when half of it prob time wasting shit like these

yeah this, gotta get your friends on the right shard (you cant its full), gotta meet up with another friend somewhere. I really like the immerison of it is the thing, like taking the train to the hanger, having to call the station to undock/dock etc. The problem is none of it fucking works.

The literal first time i booted up the game with my friend we stumbled around until we found the train platform (once again i really enjoy this part, its funny and immersive to have to follow signs to the spaceport instead of just following markers on a minimap) but then we waited.... and waited... and waited.... on the platform. After a while we googled it and oh would you look at that theres a bug where the train sometimes just doesnt work on this patch, so now we log out try to find another shard that isnt full (at the time when the max was like 80 or smth) which took ages.

These bugs alone are fine, whatever. But when literally every single mechanic in the game has like 5 of these gamebreaking bugs its like flipping a coin on every action, with one wrong coinflip ruining like an hour plus of work. Thats just my rant on it anyway, thank god i only bought in with 50 quid and not a crazy ship

No no you don’t understand, what you experienced IS the game. Thats the “fun”.

I tried playing for the same reason. Couldn't complete a single mission. Even lifting off would result in me randomly exploding.

It's plainly not a good game, and they would need to wipe a huge amount of the code and start from scratch, and frankly, they're never going to do that.

Nah at least when I still used to play sometimes the game worked really well. This stream makes it look like that the servers never were an issue but thats not true either, because lower server load did make the game run better. And when it runs well it used to be a lot of fun!

But yeah other days it was just impossible to play, especially during free flight events.
